  1. After not taking much advantage of the clear nights during the 'heatwave' because of early starts for work, the gloom came just as I was able to have a few late nights again. Last night there was half an hour of clear sky so I grabbed some time on the Moon. It was only at 12 degrees altitude but it hasn't turned out too bad. 100 frames stacked of 300 captured with the skymax and the Nikon Pipp>AS!3>IMPPG>PS to combine RGB and sharpened mono. Worth a look at full size I think. As it comes out of IMPPG/AS!3 Saturated A little more Quite a lot
  2. Nicely done Stu. The S9 is a keeper then?
  3. I spotted the headline on Phil Plaits site the other day but I was working and didn't have time to read. It's still my favourite double. And yes I think we can still call it a double. In the traditional sense of the designation used by amateurs, double can mean optical pairings and that's good enough for me - I'm not measuring anything, just enjoying the view BTW I've just read the article and it's well written if you've got a few minutes. https://www.syfy.com/syfywire/long-standing-astronomical-mystery-solved-albireo-is-not-a-binary-star
  4. All good so far. Wish ULA could afford webcams though! ?
  5. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist, but that's just peanuts to Jupiter ?
  6. I didn't get to watch it when broadcast, just sat down with iPlayer 5 mins ago..... turned off when the lady told me how hard it was to get a sense of how big it is. The trailer before it started had already annoyed me tbh, oooh says I, new nature program, interesting footage - title 'Animals behaving badly'. Why oh why? Agree with Dave about the OU. Prof. Cox has a new show that looks promising though, watching ep. 1 as we speak. *edit* Not a new show at all, it's a repeat, but I missed it first time round so that's ok. So far so good.
  7. Thanks for the heads up Dave.
  8. Looks alright to me. I haven't got any decent lunar images in ages.
  9. thanks for the recommendation, the Dava Sobel books are now on my wish list.
  10. I'm jealous and sulking and I dislike you right now Mariusz. This will only be temporary I'm sure. Cracking sequence.
  11. I was out overlooking Drake's Island in Plymouth Sound and Fort Bovisand behind it for 2 hours. I was about to pack up and the moon made a brief appearance. The conditions weren't very good, it was blowing a hoolie and it was hazy so I decided to do a pano instead. I was in such a rush the settings are all wrong! The Moon had been left the umbra ten minutes before so the western limb is nice and bright. best seen full size... I think!
  12. I was hoping the weather would change. But.....
  13. A good omen indeed. I hope you’re right about tonight
