  1. I have a Skywatcher Explorer 130p Synscan and am looking at getting a couple of eye pieces to go with the 10mm and 25mm that came with it. I saw this on Fleabay and wondered what your views were.

1.25" 7-21mm Zoom Eyepiece for TELESCOPE, High Quality | eBay

Also, any advice on what next would be appreciated too.....The budget isnt massive - £100.

What about Plossls,,,,,,some say they are good, some say they are naff. Many Thanks for your help.

  2. Money sent as a gift avoids the usual fees....I've done it before without any problems. If the person you are buying from has a bit pedigree then it will probably be fine, however if it's to Tokyo Joe in Unit 5,Hong Kong Quayside then you could be heading for trouble....

This is just meant for example.....

If a person really does exist called Tokyo Joe and works at that address then I apologise, a bit more local might mean a bit more reliable.

  3. i've seen the foreccast for Friday (sort of ok)..Saturday....(awful).....Sunday....(awful) again......as i'm booked for a tent I do think it's a sensible decision to put it on hold til the March star camp. I've been washed out at Kielder before and it's definitely no fun. If you are in a caravan or motor home it might be OK. If anyone up there reads this and can get a signal and reply - please let us know what it's like. Im booked for 2 days/nights and might drive up Saturday night [prob just sleep in car tho]

  4. Can you use any type of webcam for doing these shots.... My local store has them from 3.99 to £lots......

What is needed to get it up and running , any special attachments....

And...in simple terms..... how is this "mod" achieved,,,,

    Thanks

  5. Now...... If you click on the 17 bids bit..... it lets you see a snippit of information about the previous bids.....

Er.... the person who has done the most bidding is a zero rated bidder - now i'm not saying that this could be a false account and i'm not saying that someone has been bidding on his own/friends auction just to hike the price up......but er....... it sure looks a bit ropey to me......

People tend to ask a lot of questions when they are buying scopes, this other bidder seems very very keen to bid....then bid again........then bid again......but not enough to win......

Aye, the good old days have gone when you could contact someone and give them some freindly advice to save them from ebay perils...

  6. Nope....we moved on from that....

It's good if you can manage it, but not the be all and end all.

Good customer service is good customer service....3 rings ....4 ....5.....6.....or more...

    Any road..... lets move on

  7. Earl.... def a bit harsh.... "3 Ring Rule" - a load of cods......

I've dealt with FLO before and have nothing but praise for them. By the way I am in no way affiliated to them. Just giving my honest verdict on them.

    What business you in Earl?.......

  8. I've been to the last 2 March Kielder Starcamps and i'm very much a newbie. My knowledge is a bit on the thin side but eveyone is so keen to help you that nothings a problem. There's a wealth of knowledge at Kielder and nothing is too much for anyone. This March, even when cloudy as hell, people were advising me on the best way to The Anglers Arms.....

What a friendly bunch eh lol

At Kielder there arent any strangers.....only friends who havent yet met!

  9. Just incase anyone is arriving on Saturday - Pass this bit on....Mobile signal is zero on the campsite, but when I was there in March, if you drove off the site -turn left and travel along til you see the turn on the right for the observatory. Now, turn on the road to the Observatory, stop at the bottom.....wait a few seconds......check your phone.........voila........the signal returns....I was able to phone home.....

    hope this is of help......

As for internet Michael......... you're just being daft now.....

I hope you lot have a cracking weekend...

  10. I've just had a look too..... it's all a bit iffy to me.... I've had quite a bit experience of Ebay both as a buyer and a seller over the years and there are a lot of similarities between the pictures. Its isn't the same image reversed - as the text on the main tube isnt visible. The room looks the same, the walls look the same, the skirting and the carpet sure look the same.

It's very odd to get TWO identical looking scopes on at exactly the same time.

Also, have a look at the Completed Listings and to be honest there isn't an awful lot of them and not two the same.

I don't wish to cast doubt as it could all be genuine.....

PS.... Have a look at the sellers feedback....both of them...

SELLER 1 has lots of feedback for motor parts including HONDA spares.....whereas

SELLER 2 has lots of feedback for motor parts including SUZUKI spares....

    ER....confused and now suspicious.

It could be OK but as the Dragons say on TV......."im out"...
