  1. Well I think I’m officially a proper astronomer - I’ve just bought back a scope from the person I sold it to. Couldn’t be happier!

  2. Happy Terrestrial Aphelion Day! Yep, today the earth is about 94.5 million miles from the sun :)

I'm keeping my frac where I can see it, I don't want anyone "borrowing" it lol! :D

  5. I think I am turning Japanese,
    I really think so.......
More Made in Japan optics arrived into the fold.

  6. I just want the rain to stop, clouds to disappear and be able to see some stars... is that too much to ask!

  11. New setup is working really well (except the finder) I am planning to get the Christmas Tree thing from FLO that allows multiple finders at the same time so I can use red dot and finderscope together.

Autoguiding still on track for debut in July! :D

  12. New telescope, new mount, and auto-guiding to come soon....

Due to a most amazing turn of events, my "Operation 2017", which was originally going to be a mount upgrade to EQ3-2, suddenly turned into a full-on equipment rampage! Following January's new EQ5 and motors, I have now replaced my 3-year-old Explorer 130 starter scope with a 130 P-DS (130mm newts are where it's at :D!) although I am planning to work on some restoration of this scope so I can use it for planetary and lunar observing on the EQ2 while I image with the other setup.

But that's not all--for my birthday in July, my (very) tolerant parents (who are about the only people I know who understand why I should spend thousands on rather frustrating optics) have agreed to get me a guider-finder and basic guidecam! As my EQ5 has the advanced motor pack with ST-4 connector, etc., all I need to do is set it all up and I'll be (mostly) good to go! :)

Meanwhile, a LP filter, Cheshire, and other gadgets are required from my pocket money.....I think I will very soon be one of FLO's most "valued" customers....:D:D

  13. Someone needs to invent a device that is able to suck up the clouds... Preferably hand held but would settle for mounted on the roof :D

      I think its just a trick. :p

I am in great respect of FLO, but I think that perhaps this is a bit.........fanciful?
