  1. Hello all update on Starfest convention Starfest tickets on sale. 15th July. All day astronomy convention. 6 talks, planetarium shows, trade stands, displays, art work and models.   2. Hi everyone. Looking at buying a herschel wedge from flo. There's two on the market, Baader and Lunt. Very much different in prices so which one would you go for and why?? I'm swaying towards the Lunt.

  4. Evening all. Gives me great pleasure to let you all know that we are holding Starfest again this year. Same venue as last year, Chelmer Vally High School in Chelmsford. It will be held on 29th Oct 2016 from 9am-5pm. 6 guest speakers, planetarium dome, solar viewing (if clear) trade stands,displays, art work and models.   5. Hi everyone. I have great pleasure in telling you all that we (NEAS) are bringing Starfest back this year. 17th October 9am-5.30pm at Chelmer Valley High School Chelmsford Essex. A day full of speakers, trade stands, displays, solar viewing and planetarium dome. £12pp plus 75p costs if paying via PayPal or £10 for NEAS members plus 75p via PayPal. Top speakers, trade stands,Stardome Planetarium, Space Art and models on display. Catering van, hot and cold drinks, snacks and more.   9. Hi and welcome to sgl. I'd agree and Def have a look at north Essex society. Been to many of their stargazing events at Notley and most of their monthly talks with really good speakers! .... Well i would be slightly bias as I'm the events and publicity officer for them! Lol ;-) check out our website and see what we've got planned coming up soon... North Essex Astronomical Society we're a really friendly bunch and very active within the community. We don't pressure anyone into joining us but if you were to it costs £25 for the year or £35 for a family.... 2adults and children.. This give you full access to our dark site where our observatory is housing a 12 inch lx200, 110William optics refractor, lunt solar scope 14inch dob which is in the process of being over hauled and almost done. As well as endless cuppas from within it's own kitchen area which also has toilet facilities! High end pc to use for imaging and friendly faces always willing to help out! STARFEST 2011 Guest speakers are Pete Lawrence, Paul Abel (sky@night) Kelvin Long (British Interplanetary Society) Andrew Green (Stardome-Astronomy & Astronautics, BBC Radio) and Dr Stuart Clark (ESA Senior Editor for Space Science) As well as a host of trade stands and a F1 Simulator with prizes for fasted lap!! (conventions don't have to be the same!!! ;0) ) Book signings and with refreshments to purchase. Solar viewing will be held outside (obviously!) if the weather is good via our societies Lunt solar scope and William Optics white light filter scopes. With eateries just 5mins away the day should be really good. So please support our 1st Starfest and hopefully this might become a regular thing as is Astrofest! Tickets are priced at £12 each and can be paid for via paypal (booking fee's apply) or by downloading order form and sending monies via post.   13. What a great week we had, although mon,tue and weds were poo sat night def made up for it. Thanks to all that came and helped out. Here's to more at Notley Discovery Center soon. Hello All, On the 3rd Jan 2011 members of North Essex Astronomical Society are holding a starparty at Braintree Discovery centre in conjunction with the BBC programme Stargazing Live with Prof Brian Cox. Anyone from any other local society that wants to help out or just turn up let me know. check out web site soon for listings of other dates that we are doing.
