Wow! That's very detailed - impressive stuff.

Beautiful pic Nigel - loads of detail and I like colour balance.

I started with one of these - it's an excellent first scope that'll give you a good grounding in visual astronomy. You can upgrade it with an RA motor very easily (around £70) and do some entry level astro photography.
You may need to firm it up a bit for imaging cos it vibrates a bit which affects pictures - most folks sling a weight under the tray or fill the legs with sand.
Nice scope - congrats :)

One heck of a stunning shot Tim - that's an awesome scope you got there. Quite apart from the cocoon, it's amazing to see so many stars and colours captured, pinpoint and sharp right to the edges - totally absorbing :)

Wow Tim supperb mate - wish I'd arivved for the main weekend and stayed over like you did (instead of coming the week before). Smashing pic :)

Congrats Rez - you won't be disappointed with the views I guarantee. Do let me know how you get on with it - if I can be any help just ask :)

Hi Rez - it came with the scope - it reminds me of a showercap (which of course would do the job) :)

Thanks for the kind comments folks and sorry I didn't see your messages till now. The legs are adjustable and they were made for me by a friend with welding kit. Unfortunately he no longer has the welder.
The "Goto" was added from a Skywatcher AZ GOTO mount that I purchased for £190. The handsets from both scopes were interchangeable, so it left me with a tracking AZ mount and handset to offset the expense.
I prefer right angle finders and the one displayed is an Orion 9x50 Correct image version. With the "goto" though it hardly gets used. The shroud was ordered through Harrisons.
On a clear night the views of M42 in a 12mm hyperion are awesome at our dark site :)

You're welcome!
Last time I saw the sun in that amount of detail it was through a double stacked TV scope with TV binoviewers and Ethos 13mm eyepieces - about twenty grands worth of gear. So the Quark's doing a great job.
