Just seen Eastern and Western Veil glowing brightly in ST120 with OIII - Pacman nebula also bright tonight ...

Exasperation is setting in with this hobby....decided to try imaging again due to LP killing visual observation, only to be clouded out time & time again after first sub.

Just had new led streetlights installed on my back and front ways. Looks much darker out there, although the proof of the pudding will come when I get clear skies, but fingers crossed!

Last night I bagged 9 of the brighter Perseids, M31, M32, M110, Saturn, Mars transparency about a 6 so not much worth going after but it was worth getting to be outside all night, My favorite part. Andromeda and it's companions were quite detailed though for the seeing dust lanes just hinting, maybe some colour to be seen this year I hope. Tonight is my final attempt at the Perseids ?

Grrrrrr.......curse of the clouds! Just got set up, had a brief view of the moon, Venus and Jupiter, and hey presto clouds roll in again! Double grrrrr...... ????

Just completed my first ever collimation of a secondary mirror. Was nervous but was actually quite straight forwards. Collimation looks spot on now. All I need is some clear skies so I can do a star test!

Moon and Jupiter conjunction as viewed from our backyard tonight is a real pretty thing!

Going to be stuck in a hotel away for work all this week until next Sunday, so no Astro anything for me this week apart from naked eye visual!

Clear forecast for tonight, chance for some more galaxy "lucky" imaging.

Nice Sunny day, with clear skies, so doing a little WL solar (small AR group on the sun), and checking Venus out too in the daylight with my C8 SCT on my goto mount!

I could see the small group of spots with my 32mm EP in my C8 SCT. I also got my 120mm ‘frac out to look at the spots better as I think I get a slightly better resolution than with the C8. If you have to hunt Venus down without the help of a goto mount then it might take a little hunting about for, but with patience it can be done still. Venus at the moment is so bright it’s an easy target to see even on a sunny day like today. Just be very careful when looking around to make sure you don’t get the sun anywhere near you FOV for obvious reasons. I use a solar filter on the C8 to do a solar system align on the sun, then goto Venus, take the solar filter off and normally Venus is in view in the EP easily.

With all this Sun the last few days I'm having to try really hard not to press the trigger on a new ZWO ASI 178MM for solar imaging

Just blew my synguider...put the wrong supply in...started to smell something then...pop.
Sigh...

My ZWO ADC arrived today, so managed to test it out on Venus earlier on. Worked great from what I could see. Need to try it out on Jupiter and Mars for some more tests with it, but so far looking good!

Managed to see Venus with my bins for about 15mins last night after sunset, and also Jupiter with my 4SE Mak for about 30mins at just gone midnight last night too. Seeing was poor due to conditions and altitude, but nice to be able to see something through the cracks in the clouds!
