  1. Skytee 2 ticks all the boxes, although I would swap the saddle especially for heavier scopes.
  2. Doesn’t show much on Skysafari, but I’ll aim for it next time I’m out. 👍🏻
  3. Pretty sure this guy was an astronomer too screaming at the clouds overhead for the umpteenth time!
  4. As far as I can see Doug the only double listed not in either the Haas book or the Cambridge doubles star atlas is Struve 304 in Perseus. Faint wide pair listed as mags 7.5 and 10.7, with 25” sep. Not the most exciting one to try for, but I’ll give it a shot with the C8 SCT when skies and conditions allow.
  5. Yes, got a copy of it too and well worth it. 👍🏻
  6. Phi2 Cancri is listed in Sissy Hass’ book already. Not sure if there are any new ones that aren’t listed in either CDSA or DSFST, but I stand to be corrected by any eagle eyed readers of them both!
  7. To complement my ‘Sky atlas 2000.0’ I got a few weeks back, a very good copy from the A place of the ‘Sky Atlas 2000.0 Companion’. Didn’t pay any silly price for it either.
  8. If you go with that scope you will need a dew shield as during this time of year the front can dew up without some form of protection, else any observing can be quickly cut short without one due to dewing up of the front lens of the telescope. You can buy these from FLO, but in the past for some of my scopes I’Ve made my own with a cheap black yoga/exercise mat from either Amazon or ebay. Quite easy to do if you want to do your own.
  9. Watched but not really appreciated the content. Really going down the pan in my eyes this show.
  10. Can’t beat Baader click lock gear. Works a treat all the time! 👍🏻
  11. Yeah, my iphone 13 has a very good camera. Must see if I can get similar results from a movie file.
  12. Just shows what can be done with just a phone camera. Well done! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
  13. I’m sure back in the day when light pollution was much more minimal, and the Scottish weather allowed that views from the top of this must have been pretty good through a telescope. 👍🏻
  14. Hmmnnn…..never knew PM strayed into sci-fi fiction before. 🤔
  15. Hi, from what I can see no, not in the app itself.
  16. How much detail you want to log in is up to you. I just keep it pretty simple with equipment and EP used. Sorry, meant tosay you can use it on an Apple device or Android too (phone or ipad/tablet).
  17. I use an option in Skysafari to make a list of observations on a certain date (or even just a list of items to observe, but doesn’t have to be on the same day). I use this as I can control my goto mount via Skysafari, and log items seen after slewing to them via goto. No need for pen or paper, and it logs it all in the Skysafari app, which can then be exported as a csv file I believe if you want to log it elsewhere too, although I don’t do that. Below is an example form a session I did on the 18th September;
  18. Your 70mm refractor won’t show much more than a fuzzy patch, but you should be able to see and make out that it is a galaxy. Don’t try to use any major magnification on it as it is best seen in the widest EP that you have. 32mm should show it best if you have one for best FOV, or binoculars also if you have some too. Best seen as said on dark nights without any moon in the sky. Haze and sky conditions can also play a part in how well it is seen.
  19. You need to download software similar to Sharpcap that will allow you to use your cameras by selecting the right one in the options list when you connect it up to you PC/laptop. https://www.sharpcap.co.uk/
  20. If I remember rightly didn’t Brian May make his very first electric guitar also, before he went on to fame and fourtune with Queen? Sadly, never had the time (or patience) to build my own scope, although I did get a replica of One of Galileo’s first scopes from Astromedia a few years back to make, which works well (but really narrow field of view) on the moon, so does that count?
  21. Yeah, I have bought direct from them too previously. Delivery times where very good, and not too bad with price either a while back ago.
