  1. Not spotted it as yet, despite knowing exactly where it was.  Too much haze in my parts of late to enable a naked eye viewing even though it's quite bright.

  2. Nice to see Mercury again. Managed to spot it in my binos the last evening, then through my ‘fracs this evening. :)

  3. Well, my astro sabbatical didn't last long. New scope inbound, but keeping it modest this time...honestly

Been there and had the t-shirt too! Good luck with the new scope! :)

  4. Updated my profile picture in memory of Neil Peart who passed away this week at the young age of 67. :(

Sad to hear the passing of the best rock drummer ever! 😢

  5. Windy, and not far off a full moon, but got a good view of Uranus just north of the moon through my 120mm ‘frac and 5mm EP. Nice to see a planet again! :)

A little planetary imaging now and again is all.

Yeah, Mars this year was quite a let down with all the dust storms raging on it the last closest approach. Fingers crossed it will be much calmer in the 2020 approach. 🤞🏻

  9. Caught a glimpse of Kemble's Cascade with the binos before the clouds rolled in.

Great asterism to see. Well done! :)  Here’s a shot I took at the Kelling star party which shows it well.

  10. I bought a .5 focal reducer and have been under the clouds since. I had clear skies for about two hours the day it came in the mail. It works well on both of my telescopes as far as I've seen :);)

That’s the name of the game alas! We all suffer with that curse when buying new equipment! ;)

  11. Wow what a change in plans last night after a clear forecast turns to bad transparency and a soaking dew, I quickly tossed the Touptek and HP laptop in the house and came up with an alternative megshift plan. Seeing was limited to about mag 9 so in saving face as my daughter had arrieved and she was looking forward we went on an open cluster marathon starting with C28 then moving to the Double Cluster and down to the Heart and Soul to begin our journey from 20° NE and followed the Milkyway SW hitting every available open cluster along the way with the Spiral the Sailboat and many others as we easily hopped our way to the zenith and beyond at wich time the wet had overcome the observations and the cloud moved overhead but all this not before our cluster marathon had bagged over 40 beautiful and worthwhile objects with my daughter left amazed by what can be achieved under such horrid sky conditions. What an awesome session and to have company for the experience was an added bonus. Love it...

  12. Clear finally! Set the gear up at 2pm, get to test my new eaa rig again tonight... Excited? Yea ?

  13. I’m trying to be optimistic for the weather at Kelling from Thursday onwards! :)

  14. Unexpected bit of clear skies, not the best so been hunting some doubles on the AVX Mount with my Omni 120mm ‘frac. Happy days! :)

Well done! Not easy to see unless your skies are nice and dark. :)

  17. Exasperation is setting in with this hobby....decided to try imaging again due to LP killing visual observation, only to be clouded out time & time again after first sub.

Not an easy hobby to follow. We all have our peaks and troughs with it. Hang in, you will soon be on a peak rather than a trough. :)

  18. Just had new led streetlights installed on my back and front ways. Looks much darker out there, although the proof of the pudding will come when I get clear skies, but fingers crossed! :)

From what I can see they shine directly down. Get a better idea tonight as forcast to be clear (fingers crossed), so should get a better idea when dark skies show. :)

And one light that shone quite badly into my front garden isn’t even working. As it’s on a footpath I think they had issues using the jib on the truck to reach it to change it. I’m kind of hoping it stays off permanently! ;)

  20. Last night I bagged 9 of the brighter Perseids, M31, M32, M110, Saturn, Mars transparency about a 6 so not much worth going after but it was worth getting to be outside all night, My favorite part. Andromeda and it's companions were quite detailed though for the seeing dust lanes just hinting, maybe some colour to be seen this year I hope. Tonight is my final attempt at the Perseids ?

Well done. Next time also see if you can see the small Galaxy Mirach’s ghost close to Mirach. Quite easy to see (although small) when the seeing and transparency are good. :)
