  1. There's no need to drill anything, and still have 2 screws in the finder base. Most of the screws on the backplate of the C11 can be removed. On my C8, the domed black screws can be removed (the silver countersunk should be left alone). The thread (on the C8 ) is 8-24 UNC, and probably the same on the C11.
  2. It's what I'd call a sun dog. There would probably have been another one equidistant on the other side.
  3. Star hopping with polluted skies is a recipe for frustration. I've moved to goto/push to mounts for this reason.
  4. There's also this one http://www.olle-eriksson.com/night-sky-maps/
  5. Ordered on April 6, arrived on 28th. My first parcel from Japan, via FLO (thank you). But not Tak Some time later Just under 4kg with rings, finder, diagonal and eyepiece. And fits into a camera backpack I guess it would be greedy to ask for some clear skies.
  6. My children liked button moon when they were young.
  7. Nice pics. I posted similar (well not so good) in Observing - Lunar - Schroter
  8. Thanks Stu. I've found out what to do now. Just have to remember for next time.
  9. I'm not much of a lunar observer, but it was certainly good last night. Here's a quick snap of Aristarchus and Herodotus. I just neednto figure out how to reverse the mirror image. (Done for you, Stu 👍)
  10. Yes, I like them. My only gripe is that they are threaded for 1/4-20 rather than M6, but it's a minor point.
  11. If your son is interested in learning the constellations and the names of the bright stars, I recommend "The stars, a new way to see them" by H A Rey. It also contains the rudiments of the earth's rotation, the seasons, celestial co-ordinates, etc . It's not up-to-date, but it doesn't need to be.
  12. I'm not sure it's possible to get visual focus with a Redcat using a regular diagonal - I certainly couldn't. WO do make a diagonal specifically for this scope.
  13. For those of us not familiar with the details of the AZ GTI and the star adventurer counterweight, it would be helpful to know the sizes, and which is male /female. There's a lot of hardware available off the shelf, but what you want may be too specialised for the likes of B&Q etc.
  14. The bolts will depend on what you are trying to connect to the dovetail. Could you provide some more information?
  15. Looks like there's someone crushed underneath the table.
  16. Maybe something like this: https://www.berlebach.de/en/?bereich=details&id=558
  17. I would not be surprised if Televue sent them for free.
  18. This discussion is (to my mind) makes a great and realistic contrast to something I read - not sure where, maybe CN - about how easy it was to move a 12" Meade LX200. Having had, and sold the 10" and then the 8" version, I could not disagree (not with John re a 12"Dob necessarily) more. When you have different levels and narrow doors to navigate, portabilty becomes essential, unless you have a permanent installation. I'm now living in a flat and observe from my balcony. There are no steps to get outside and I have a wide sliding door, and not far to go. Without that the AZ100 would have been a non-starter.
  19. There are lots of resources to help find galaxies and the like from suburban sites. For example this one, which discusses views with small and medium size telescopes: https://tonyflanders.wordpress.com/urbansuburban-messier-project/
  20. And ENS have some (used) 0.965" eyepieces https://ensoptical.co.uk/index.php?route=product/search&search=.965
  21. I also found this, but note the comment about focus https://www.teleskop-express.de/shop/product_info.php/info/p283_TS-Optics-Adaptor-for-1-25--eyepieces-to-24-5-mm---0-965--focuser.html
  22. I'd agree with the eyepiece being 0.965". I have one just like it. Aren't the adapters usually to enable 0.965" eyepieces to be used in 1.25" tubes/diagonals and not the other way round?
  23. Sounds about right - maybe a little bit less.
  24. Including the nexus, tray and cables, mine is 11.6 kg - with cw bar but no counterweight. Also includes the base adapter to fit an EQ5 tripod.
