  1. Yes I saw your post previously on this. My Eagle power cable only outpius 12.9 according to the Eagle s/w. So that is a limiter. The 13.8v supply to the mount seems like a sensible way to go. T.
  2. Hi Sara, Sorry thought I had replied to this. I m powering it from the Eagle. I can switch it to the Dragonfly / Mains. Tom
  3. Olly has seen lots of issues with these units, so I know where he is coming from with his experience. My experience was with a USB that crashed / blue screened my PC a few times. Before the blue screen, it hung up the guider. I kind of have a set against them since. Maybe unfairly, but this experience does set you on a path of preference. Tom
  4. For me though on the Eagle, its just a PC, I would have thought no difference to a PC etc.. The USB board should be similar if not the same as other PC right? I wonder if the power requirements etc.. cant be maintained with so much load on the boards. Time will tell. T
  5. Well I cant argue at the moment. However I m still going to wait a bit until we find the issue. From my day job point of view, you need to be careful to assert a blame to one thing in particular. One year from now I may be saying, yep a PC was the way to go Tom.
  6. Again, That will make me cry. That would mean then a second return to Primaluce. I think I 'll try an external hub but try and keep the power and PC from the eagle. I know it has its uses, and I d like it to work if at all possible. Tom
  7. Good and bad. Exactly. So how do you makes comms more reliable. That is tricky. The incoming power is from the Eagle, from its own power supply at 12.9v. This comes from a UPS. So should be stable, at least. What would cause drops in comms in USB?, bad hardware, not enough dram or something for data transfer, bad or low power, dodgy cables, or weak s/w capability / settings. So much to diagnose yet. I don't fancy sending either equipment back for replacement Tom
  8. Another big thanks to Steve for staying on the phone with me for about an hour. The bottom line is that the mount is not doing what it should. We kept the trouble shooting to just the Sitech. Initially we found every second time we opened it it gave errors for Bad Comms. This was odd but it then gave errors randomly on opening and closing. This looks like a comms issue, probably a com port on the Eagle. This Eagle has already been back to primaluce for a bad USB board which they said they replaced. Now maybe that is not the issue but it raises an eye brow we are unable to open and close the sitech exe consistently where it will not give errors I updated to 92eg Sitech I was on 90P this made no difference. On the 4th opening of Sitech the bad comm returned. Next is to swap USB ports on the Eagle. So somewhere between the physical cables and comms ports and wire connections on the Sitech controller to the Eagle USB board or the cable itself appears to just drop or or disconnect. So some more tests to do but this is a real spanner in the works. I was just thinking if I could keep the Eagle running but use a USB instead I might b able to use the USB 3.0 board instead of the current USB 2.0 board that the Mesu is using. I really don't want a full overhaul / replacement of the gear. I m remaining positive and grateful for the help, this is a great way to understand the in s and outs of the equipment. Tom
  9. Ok great. I 'll be back in an 45mins / hour if you d like a quick view before its dark, Just to show you the screen settings I have etc... And the steps I have been following. I 'll need a few stars out though before I can proper test it.
  10. I m going out for a short walk now, but if you d like you can team viewer into it when get back just to see how I have the whole thing set up. You might spot something that I m doing wrong. I'll be back in 45mins. I was using a single "take One" and plate solving that for example, so I only saw the init screen in SGP for the first time last night. I was getting it in CDC. Although I presume its essentially the same. Or is that a bad assumption. Tom T
  11. Eagle 2. Not the full Eagle 2 Pro. Or what sounds worse, the 1500 euro one T.
  12. No problem thanks Gav. I'll update as soon as I figure something out. T.
  13. Thanks Gav, You re welcome to have a look too. T.
  14. Hi Steve, Would you like to try a teamviewer to my PC so I can show you where am I at later if you have some time? Tom Happy new Year too in case I did not say it.
  15. I ve added in some results to these steps I was doing. Steve I will need to get Olly for some hands on placing of the Mount in the Park positions to run your Below Horizon steps. So now I seem to be still stuck in the USB set up. Added to this the Eagle closed down at some stage, which may have happened about the time of he Unpark in Gavs steps. I think this happened as I was doing this for hours, and the Team Viewer kicked me off for timeouts. I ve been at this for hours this evening, so its probably about to happen again. So USB stability does seem to be an issue, or else I m just getting unlucky with timing doing these steps as Eagle reboots, teamviewer dropping off etc... Tom. Happy New Year by the way. IMG_6672.MOV
  16. Looks like due East to Due North. The web cam struggles to see as it gets too dark. I think I just need to do the Park straight after the Offset Init, before trying a Slew to another object anyway. I m sure whatever I was doing made it seem like the mount just went off on its own. Tom
  17. The stress was sending me to the pub. I managed to get the Blind Tracking working yesterday. So finally I could take a pic with no trailing. So seeing I can track and slew, with the s/w buttons and with the CDC, then I think I can rule out the mount as being the issue. I do need to check that the Config has the comm port available each time I start a run. At this stage I think its just a matter of finding my correct set of steps. One of the screenshots in the first thread shows that I did have Tracking enabled at one stage through the steps you all suggested. Just that the Com port must have been closed at that point. One thing that I think keeps happening is that the mount does the Offset Init, but then it slews towards the North. Is this normal? Is this why more than more suggest using the s/w buttons or hand pad to move the scope back to the East? Once its East again I can Park it then. Weather forecast is clear for tonight so I'll try again later. Tom.
  18. Thanks everyone for your replies. I m in the pub at the moment. It is Christmas after all. I ll be home soon to revisit this. If Steve wants to team viewer in that is not a problem. T.
  19. Ha Ha A little further Steve thanks. Still some issues. So I had powered everything up on the Eagle except the Mesu mount. Olly moved by hand the mount towards Capella in the East. I powered up the Mesu on the Eagle, and Olly confirmed all the LEDs came on. I connected all the equipment on SGP, and connected the scope in CDC. I hope I can remember these steps as I did them. This may not be 100% accurate. I took a pic in SGP and did a blind Solve. This was successful. On CDC I clicked on Capella and then clicked on Sync. This brought up an error message, cant remember what it said. I then clicked Yes, which gave me the option to Select Scope pointing East, and I clicked on Cal Star. I think the message field then changed to Select 2nd Cal star. I clicked on it, and it slewed off somewhere out of view on CDC, and towards the North. I went off script here as I was trying to get the scope back to Capella or close. I was able to move the scope back with the buttons on Sitech.exe. Now at this stage the scope was still not tracking. I was taking 5s shots which had trailing. I then tried to close Sitech.exe to close it so I could open the Config. It gave messages saying devices were still connected. So I had to disconnect the Mount in SGP, and CDC to close Sitech. This allowed me to Open Sitech Config. There were no numbers in the screen, and the Address error was back. It said Unable to Open Comm port 7. This is the problem I had before. So the mount would slew without the comm port open. But would not track. Weird. So back to the Eagle. As I mentioned in a previous message, when it booted up originally, the Comm port was always 5. For the last few weeks, it opens as 7. The power options are blacked out. When I chang ethat port to 5, I can power on the devices. Maybe at this point, I need to open the Sitech Config and Set the Com port to reset it to 7. The Eagle did do an automatic Update 24hrs earlier too. Turning this off can be tricky in Won 10 from what I have read. So after connecting the Config Com port 7, I cold again use the s/w move buttons to move the mount. I had to leave the scope at this point. Dinner plans, but it looks like I need to get my set up sequence to get the Config running first. Then shut it down, and open the Sitech.exe. At some point during this, the Sitech was posting only one message, before it was the bad columns etc... It did say tracking, but I still dont think it was. I thought that 5s shoots still showed trailing. I was doing too much to remember the steps at this point, but I'll re visit it now later. A question I have is should I stop after the first Cal Init? I did a Park and Set Park at one point. When I did an Unpark to try following Steve steps, the mount went off on a slew on Unpark. I did A Stop to that slew as I did not think that was correct, and as the mount was not fully set up, I was worried where it was going to go. This was when the comm port was not working though. Shouldn't it just track after an Unpark, and not slew? I'll update you all later with what ever happens this evening. Tom.
  20. Hi Gav, Its still cycling through 4 messages, one of which is "Tracking", the others are the Bad Columns, Servo... etc..
  21. Thanks for the replay. I have not seen Tracking yet in this box. So as this is the first instance of initialising, is there the possibility that I need to do something prior to just plate solving? Maybe I have missed a step long before just doing a blind plate solve to figure out the mounts position. Tom.
  22. I power cycled the lot. Closed down the s/w then re opened. It looks like I m getting the same SiTech messages, reading servos etc... Still on tracking, and now I m on the SiTech ascom driver. The Mount should be fully powered up, I m seeing the 0.1A draw on the Eagle from it.
  23. Maybe I need to re connect the mount on the Comm port. When I connect to the Eagle, sometimes it defaults to the Mounts com m port and I need to manually change it.
  24. Yes its connected and I did a blind solve. I m pretty sure I also tried the Solve nd Sync but the telescope field did not update the RA and Dec co ords.
  25. Hi Martin, Yes I m using the POTH driver, as I have PHD2 and the CDC or SiTech to control the mount. I was told that if I m going to go with Pulse guiding that POTH is the setting I need as I have to s/w programs sending signals to the mount. I'll try just the Sitech setting to see if that does anything though. Thanks Tom.
