  1. How many hours are you up to now on this?
  2. There is lots of colour data in there, as you say 8 inch light gathering with high QE camera, makes for a great system. Maybe I m just not used to seeing the new style of photos with all the deeper details, and signal from higher QE cameras, and Star Xt processing (I dont have Win 10 so I m not using it yet) so it seemed pushed to me. The cropped inserts you have do show good smooth data, so I guess I was a bit quick to judge. Tom
  3. That's the most aggressive looking shark I ve seen yet. A little bit over processed for my tastes, but I like how the "head" is showing more shape and features than most pics. Tom
  4. Beautiful. Great colour and nice tight stars
  5. Thanks Peter. I think I need some more NR when looking at the Cropped version. Tom.
  6. Excellent processing to get the Lum to stand out so well. It has a very 3D feel to it. Great processing with 7hrs of data. Tom
  7. Thanks Colm, and everyone for the comments. Yes I'll try that on the next mosaic and see if it retains the data, or if it can solve it. At least there is a plan B with Astrometry. Tom
  8. This one is from a few months ago, where I wanted to try and get the outer galactic shells to show up in M89. The Lum has 17hrs with the FSQ106 which was very promising, however the RGB had massive issues with gradients and just bad data. I had to bulldooze it a bit to get anything out of it. I m not overjoyed with the result, but happy that I got something out of it that I could even post. Given how busy the area is I attach an Annotated version too. LRGB 29hrs FSQ106ED, Mesu 200, Atik 11meg
  9. Thanks Wim, As this is a mosaic, I dont know if the RA and Dec end up in the final header data. I d be surprised if it did. Tom.
  10. Thanks Scoot. I must remember to use Astrometry.net in future if PI fails to solve. I had another pane from a previous pic for the bottom right of the image, taking in another IC blue nebula. It would have meant a third row would be needed on the bottom, so I decided to leave it out for this year. I might try and finish off the bottom row and add a 4th row to get the whole constellation next Spring /Summer Thanks Richard, Yes it s a busy area, and given I still have some tilt i need to fix on the imaging train, I have to crop out some edge areas. Tom.
  11. Excellent Richard. Lots of detail and signal in there. Tom
  12. Super. Looks great just floating there in the centre. Tom
  13. Here is a six pane mosaic at 530mm and full frame CCD from the 11 Meg Atik. Ollys camera as mine seems to be kaput. Taken from Les Granges with my remote rig. FSQ106ED, on a Mesu 200. I always loved looking at this part of the Milky Way. To me it feels brighter than areas nearer the galactic center. So I decided to try and image it to see if there was any space between the stars at all. Not much s the answer, and some Ha signal coming in from the right hand side. M11 the Wild Duck Cluster is in the top left, the plate solve failed so I need to figure out another method to get the reset of the objects. There is a tiny beauty of a Planetary nebula in the bottom left. I'll attach a crop of it. Each pane has 9hrs of RGB, and 2hrs of Lum making it 66hrs in total. Tom
  14. Very nice Olly. That's some deep background dust in the image. Good to hear AstroArt can do the stacking too with all those subs. I m still old school there too. Tom
  15. That’s a beauty.
  16. Thanks everyone for your comments. I m really happy how it came out, but I ll still just give it a bit more lunch or contrast for the final version. I was mostly concerned with keeping the sheer amount of stars from overwhelming the field. Tom.
  17. Hi SGL This is my first Deep Space image for a while. I ve been collecting data for three mosaics as Summer and Winter projects over the last one to two years, so its nice to finally finish one. This took two Summers to image. Its so low even from the observatory, that could only get a maximum of 3 hrs a night on it. And a lot of the time just two hours. The is a three pane landscape mosaic from Pi Scorpii to Dschubba Scorpii at the head of the the constellation Scorpius. Each pane has 12hrs RGB, and 4hrs Ha with 2 hrs of Lum. So a total of 54hrs on an object that barely reached +23 degrees above the Horizon at the top frame and only +19 for the bottom frame. Taken with a Tak FSQ106ED and Atik 11 Meg camera. Thanks to Olly Penrice for switching out my 11meg with his for the last two months. Mine may be goosed. I ve yet to go trouble shoot it.
