  1. I went to the Oregon Coast on Saturday night to try and get Orion and some coastline. The tide was out, the moon left me about 45mins of shooting, and it was clear. Here is a 40min stacked 20x2min sots blended with a 3min foreground shot. ISO1600, F/2.8 24mm Samyang on a Star Adventurer tracker. Tom
  2. Good to hear you have it sorted. Yes I reckon the Adobe RGB is the best option. I ve been using it since day one, and I think I read that from some book or PS set up years ago. Also I m sure it will jelp your printing. Have fun with those big prints. Tom
  3. I also found this old one of my PS7 or something settings. The custom setting to the Inspiron was from using a Spyder colour calibration device I think to calibrate the laptop to my printers laptop. It was his Spyder device. Tom
  4. Check this option too Olly. Not sure if its the fix, but Under View, Proof Set up, you can select what ever set up you want under Device to Simulate. I have always used Adobe RGB in this screen and the Colour settings. Tom
  5. Never noticed a Pig in this area before. Well spotted Tom
  6. Cheers. I thought d need Ha to get the Red signal but its there if you go deep on the RGB, Thanks for the comments. Tom And without Ha data!
  7. I appreciate the critic thanks. I did a little sharpening on the Witchhead as I find that, doing so can help the eye pull it out of the background, and make it more 3D. I d been staring t it too long to really tell. Tom
  8. thanks. No its not on astrobin I dont have an account with them. Tom
  9. Thanks Danny Cheers Olly, Thanks for your comments. I thought I could get it in 8 panes. 4 rows 2 wide, but it was too tight to Rigel. So I had to add another row. Doing that allowed a much better visual framing. Its a very busy bit of sky. I ended up having to use some Rigel frames to cover up flaring, and to help control Rigel, so I m very happy I was about to keep it down tastefully. Using Star Xterminator was great in preventing any stars getting stretched while working on curves and nebula stretches. I even had to crop another nebula on the LHS side which has the same look as the witch head. I might have to go back and image there at some stage to see what it is. Tom
  10. Here is a 12 pane, full frame Mosaic, at 530mm with a Tak FSQ106ED and Atik 11 meg camera. This is 156hrs of LRGB taken over two years. I combined the Lum and RGB panels after just some light stretching, and a Saturation boost on the RGB. I then tried Star Xterminator for the first time to separate the stars. From there I selectively stretched the Reds and Blues, then recombined the stars. It looks like its over saturated to my eye, but I did a bit of boosting to the Reds and Blues. I m not sure it totally pops yet, I think I need to play with it a bit more. I have never been able to get the Electric blues as I call them into the blue colours, and I think the Witch head may look a bit flat. Still this is what I have ended up so far... Thanks for looking Tom.
  11. I was chatting with someone recently about this who posts on various platforms. Facebook, Twitter, Flickr etc... all use different methods of compression so that their pics load faster, so there is a difference in how it gets presented. I ve found Flicker posts darker images, than Twitter for example. No idea what Astrobin is doing. Tom
  12. My condolences Peter on your Mums passing. Great to have you back imaging. Nice shot. Is there more nebulae to the top left of this image? Tom
  13. Ok I got it working. The instructions say you can use any folder to save the AI download. So I choose Pixinsight folder to have it all in one place. Seems that wont work. I downloaded it again and just selected the Downloads folder, and this time it downloaded and the Process works in PI. Tom.
  14. yes I just downloaded the latest yesterday. 1.8.8.11
  15. Hi SGL I finally upgraded my laptop to Win10, and it restored all the progams. I can now log back into PS and Lightroom. So I decided to install the Star Xterminator, but I m getting errors. Has anyone seem this before? I was trying linear and non linear images, TIFFs and FITs, but I get the same error. Even the file name has the underline for the spaces. *** Error: File I/O Error: Invalid or empty file name
  16. Version 1 is great too, its just seemed to have a bit of a blue cast to it. V2 corrected that for me. Tom
  17. Thats normal for a Takahashi refractor, I m guessing its just the natural baffling on the Zenith star too Tom
  18. The star spikes really add to this image. Tom
  19. I like those two diffuse galaxies. Tom
  20. I like the blue tendrills. Tom
  21. Very good. And always great to see a new object.
  22. Have you a Windows 10 PC in your office? The read me file says thats the minimum requirement T.
  23. Is a tilt adjustable camera a good thing or a pain? I m looking at the Apex atik CMOS but its not out yet. It has that feature, but I'll be imaging at F/5 at the shortest, so it may not affect me as much as F/2
