    Tracer for Vixen SX2

Hello I’m about to take delivery of a Vixen SX2 with Starbook One, this will be my first ever powered / motorized mount. I do not have a power tank and whilst that is an option I wondered if anyone used a Tracer 3.5AH LiFePo4 battery ? Best Regards Carl Sent from my iPad

Vixen GP mount head & CW

Hello Mark I’m interested in the Vixen GP Mount Head , if still available would you consider shipping to Europe? Best Regards Carl
  5. They don't seem to advertise it but Orion Optics do make a Carbon Fibre Dew Shield that threads onto the objective cell of the OMC140. I have one, it's a perfect match for the OMC140 tube. Best Regards Carl
  6. Hello I've fitted my OMC140 with a JMI Motor Focus unit I had spare from my TV101 refractor. It works, no vibration when focusing. There will be a more elegant implementation some day but for now I've something that does the job so I thought I'd pass it on. Lucky for me the mounting holes for the OMC finder bracket are the same distance apart as the mounting slots on the JMI bracket that fits the TV101 focus pinion. Best Regards Carl

    Solar Filters and Bino Pairs

Hi Martin when I had my Herschel Wedge (APM 1.25 same as the Lunt but no built in filters ) I used one of the two ND filters plus the SC filter to get a good view, not too bright but with enough detail, depending on the sky conditions. Along with a polarizing filter and a UV/IR filter that I'm keeping. Then I bought the Beloptic ND3/IR/Pol laminated filter and that replaced the separate UV/IR, ND3 and Polarising Filters. The Beloptic plus Baader SC made a much neater and more manageable stack in front of the eyepiece. if your Lunt Wedge has the built in, non removable ND3 filter then only the Baader SC filter would be useful to you. Best Regards Carl

  12. Hello folks, I’ve decided to sell some of the items I don’t use. I’ll be in Edinburgh for a few days from 28th Feb then in Guildford for a few days from 6th March and can post from either location or meet up if you’d like to inspect first. Pentax 20 x 60 Binoculars with neck strap, caps and case good used condition, purchased used a year ago. These are in collimation and with clear optics, selling as the twist up eyeguards are quite wide and I can’t get comfortable with them. £ 115 including first class postage within the UK. Eyepiece pairs, all will be bubble wrapped and I’ll use a padded envelope or small box :- A pair of Baader Hyperion 24mm, in fair used condition. I had them professionally cleaned and fitted with Astronomik ASKLAR1 - MC Clear Glass 1,25" Filter (31.50 euro/each from TS Germany ) to keep dust and debris from the objective lens which in this design is also the focal plane. After all that effort I found them too fat to use comfortably. No box, bag or eyepiece caps. Caps for objective filter only. Only interested in selling as a pair for £ 125 including first class postage within the UK. A pair of Celestron 20mm Erfle eyepieces, no box or eyepiece caps, in good condition, clean optics and body. Only interested in selling as a pair for £ 55 including first class postage within the UK. A pair of Intes Bertle 18mm eyepieces, no box or eyepiece caps, in fair condition, clean optics and body. Only interested in selling as a pair for £ 55 including first class postage within the UK. Best Regards Carl
  13. Hello folks, I’ve decided to sell some of the items I don’t use. Also, I moved over from a Herschel Wedge to the 82mm IDAS UHB-RS white light filter so my Baader SC and ND filters and small IDAS filters are for sale. I’ll be in Edinburgh for a few days from 28th Feb then in Guildford for a few days from 6th March and can post from either location or meet up if you’d like to inspect first. Pre-Meade Coronado SM40, Tmax 40 and BF5, good used condition. Etalon and Tmax are 15 years old, Blocking Filter is 5 years old, comes with original ( 15 year old ) case but not original cut foam. I used this as my travel set up for many years. £ 575 including first class postage within the UK. 52mm IDAS UHB-RS Solar Filter, good used condition, 2 years old. £ 125 including first class postage within the UK. 1.25 inch Baader ND3 filter with case, good used condition, 5 years old. £ 20 including first class postage within the UK. 1.25 inch Baader ND1.8 filter with case, good used condition, 5 years old. £ 20 including first class postage within the UK. 1.25 inch Baader Solar Continuum filter with case, good used condition, 5 years old. £ 40 including first class postage within the UK. 1.25 inch Bel Optic ND3/IR/Pol filter with case good used condition, 2 years old. £ 75 including first class postage within the UK. 14. Hi Paul Congratulations on the Double Stack, I've often thought of going that route. Regarding rotating the whole filter once tilted : in my experience it most definitly makes a difference even for single stack. I think this is refered to as " Clocking " and has been discussed on CN with regard to double stacking. I have both a SM40 and SM90 and there is the temptation to thread them snuggly to the matching TMax tuner and the TMax snuggly to the scope, but over time I found that a better view could be obtained by rotating the SM to TMax ( unthreading it ) by an eigth to a quarter turn. Why it should show a benefit in single stack is not clear to me, I think there may be a relationship between the orientation of the etalon and the one or other element in the BF but thats as far as I've got. Best Regards Carl
