  1. Hi, We had nice prom yesterday [img width=1100 height=639]http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/6092/jupr130408lvs.jpg And details on the surface [img width=1100 height=825]http://img804.imageshack.us/img804/8065/jupr131405lvs.jpg
  2. Hi, We had awesome weather so it would be a sin not to take some photos Coronado SM90/BF30 on TS 90/600 triplet apo, Point Grey Chameleon (mono), hand drive on T-Rex mount. 300mm with poor focal reducer: 600mm - standard FL: 1200mm with TV 2x Barlow: And a mosaic I commited after the transit (1200mm FL):
  3. Hi, I'm back after long break. Here comes a close up of active regions at 1200mm FL. I used Coronado SM90 and PTGrey Chameleon camera. Enjoy
  4. The best choice for solar imaging is monochromatic camera with sensor efficent in h-alpha. As for now good and quite unexpensive are cameras with Sony ICX618 sensor and ICX445. First has a little better sensivity and bigger pixel (you can use slower F-ratio efficently) but has small resolution. I think ICX445 is optimal choice for solar imaging, because it has excellent resolution and very good sensivity. You can find cameras with both sensors in similar price. Look for Basler ACA series (ICX618 and ICX445), Point Grey Research Chameleon (ICX445) or Imaging Source DMK21 (ICX618). You will get good results with every solar scope even PST or Lunt LS35 but the bigger scope the better results
  5. You are right - 20cm not 10 It won't be easy but I think I'll try to do it soon. Many thanks for initial info. I'll be back
  6. Do you think that I can put PST etalon just straight in the front of BF filter after removing it's front tube (from etalon side)? PST etaon always needs 10cm back focus?
  7. Hi, I am wondering if it is possible to make PST etalon work with my Lunt LS152 as a doublestack unit. Below is a photo showing what I can unscrew without damaging anything (thanks Lunt for modular scope ) I have to mention that I have to focus out the focuser and even move BF diagonal a little out from focuser to reach focus with eps so there is a lot free space to put PST etalon between Lunt etalon unit and blocking filter. Lathe work is not aproblem - my friend will make any adapters needed. The other thing to mention is that I am going to sell my BF1200 and buy BF1800 (straight through version I suppose). Any ideas? Thanks! Pawel
  8. Today's mosaic. Once again on alt-az mount with hands drive...
  9. Or refiguring primary to parabola.
  10. Sure it will work but not as well as with the corrector due to focal lenght. Schmidt's corrector corrects spherical aberration of spherical primary mirror and that's it. It works on rule "+" and "-" compensation. People made Newtonians with spherical primaries but usually for planetary observation with long focal lenght (F/10 or slower). The crack is not so big but I think you will see some distortion. Secondary has to be replaced because the chips deformed flatness. Even if refigured, looks like dimentions are too small now.
  11. I owned LS60DS50 and later LS100 and there was big improvement in visual and photo. LS152 in low mag didn't blast me but in hi mag - yup, there is a difference
  12. Tom, There two ways: - remove the corrector and make spider - telescope will work, - ask Orion Opt. for new corrector.
  13. Thanks guys Conditions were poor (haze and wind) and I put the tube on alt-az mount (T-Rex) - hands drive is not good way for astrophoto I had no choice because iOptron IEQ45 has different power input than HEQ5 I owned earlier. I didn't check it on time and T-Rex was the only solution. By the way, my new scope:
  14. "Wide" I took it yesterday, close up on filament is from today. Enjoy Full resolution: http://astropolis.pl/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=70043 http://astropolis.pl/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=70125
  15. I bought damaged optics from SN8" recently. The first important thing - the corrector has to be in one piece, without chips etc. It's easy to get primary and secondary. But you have to note that primary is spherical not parabolical. From my set I gave primary and secondary for repolishing and recoating. And the secondary will be smaller because 80mm is oversized I think. I will have the optics ready the next week. I have carbon fiber tube prepared
  16. I bought 240mm ID tube from here: klaushelmi.de 72cm long tube costed me 200eur The tube itself is ok but paintjob is not great. I'd suggest making it by some car painter. P.S. My SN8" carbon tube project is in progress, will post results soon.
  17. Great picture! One of the best from PST I've ever seen. Well done!
  18. Try to use Microsoft ICE. It gives nice results
  19. Here is better resolution: http://forum.astropolis.pl/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=64196
  20. Mozaic from 9 pics. I used Lunt LS100THa (714mm focal lenght) + PTGrey Chameleon. Link to better resolution: http://forum.astropolis.pl/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=64232
  21. Coronado SM90+Barlow TV x2 fl:1000mm 2 pics mozaic.
  22. Thanks And another one from 07.05.2011 (Lunt+Coronado)
  23. Some of my shots using Coronado SM90 (1st) and Lunt LS100THa (2nd). I used two avis from SM90 to take surface and proms. One avi from Lunt to grab nice filaprom
