  1. I first saw this image at Jodrell Bank last summer when I went to a talk at Bluedot. I think it had only just been released. Amazing image and the lines were very interesting. Possibly caused by magnetism, maybe!
  2. Found this....As of posting 36 mins to go before broadcast. Hope its worth the wait ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?reload=9&v=Dr20f19czeE
  3. The near perfect all round scope for me is the Celestron C11 with a 6.3 focal reducer and Hyperstar.....Which I have all Focal lengths of 2800mm 1760mm and 560mm...And yes, with Hyperstar, M45 fits in FOV for imaging. All in one piece of kit. What more could ya want
  4. Some good words posted here. I use SGPro at the moment. I will have a look at this software and may give it a go too...Especially if its free
  5. I just did a search on Astrobin.com There are several images taken with the RedCat 51 APO.
  6. Did you find the lens cover Gina? Did it just pop off or smash? I ask because I have same lens but it has condensation residue in the center of FOV. I was thinking of pulling off the front lens to clean and seal....But not sure if it would break in the process. Dave
  7. What a great project. And the images look great too. Yes, I am posting here for personal reference I may try this one myself. Thanks for sharing. Dave.
  8. Very nice image. I like the colours too. At least you pointed out your realisation about the cloud drifting to the right so next time, or even others can attempt. Thanks for sharing. Dave.
  9. Thanks for the post David. Its going to be cloudy tonight, I will use my time to read through this then. In the 5 minutes I already spent looking into this I have learnt new things. Thanks.
  10. Looks interesting. Thanks for sharing.
  11. FYI The USB 3.1 standard is backward compatible with USB 3.0 and USB 2.0. So, the camera should work on the USB 3 port.
  12. Thanks for the info The website makes Senja look a great place to visit.
  13. Looking back, I wish I had saved myself the £130 for the 10" steel tube that I then filled with cement. Instead, I should have got a cardboard tube and poured cement into that instead. Would have worked just as well. Once painted, no one would have noticed!

    M57 LRGB Final.jpg

Taken using ZWO ASI183mm Pro, C11 at 2800mm FL. 120 x 60s LRGB. I think 60s is too long an exposure for such a bright object. May try shorter exposures next time.

    Incidental Objects

Using Cartes du Ciel, I was just looking around Triangulum to see what was was there. Click on the object, my mount moves to that part of the sky and I took a few Lum subs. This is NGC 973 15 x 60s Subs of L only. C11 at 2800mm FL f/10. ZWO ASI 183mm Pro. Astrodon 1.25" E-Series L filter. Mesu 200 mount.
  16. Great image Lucas. Well done. I have imaged M57 before but never managed the outer halo. I must try for this next time. Thanks for sharing.
  17. I think it also depends on your reasons to purchase a scope in the first place. I dont know when you started astronomy but for me, its been an OK winter, weather wise. Last winter was worse for me here. Only bad weather is this last 4 weeks for me. Although I was away for two of those weeks to a place where the sun and stars shone brightly I have never felt I have wasted my money on my astronomy gear. Having been viewing since 2010 and imaging since 2016. Purchasing lots of bits and pieces. I find the weather just a obstacle to wait out until it changes for the better. And I do think, personally, if it was clear skies every night then I would probably get bored quickly and sell up lol. I think the weather will improve next week. Hold on in there. It will get better, it always does
  18. It would be interesting to see a comparison of this new filter along with the Chroma LP filter. As I have bad LP to the west with the new LED street lights I would be very interested in ANY LP filter that could help.
  19. Yep. Live launch in 100 minutes....that's 20 more 5 minute subs in AP speak

I am experimenting with my full colour camera and narrowband filters. I was hoping to get 20 or more subs on this but the clouds rolled in. 8 x 600s is all I could manage. The season is young, there will be more chances :)
