Can anyone offer help with how to use the ASI224 camera with Sharpcap 2.5. I would like to know what settings to use to minimize noise when shooting video of planets? I would also like to know what settings to use to take frames of DSOs. I am using the camera in prime focus mode with a 2X barlow and 9.25 inch Celestron SCT. Many thanks in advance.

Thanks, Steve. I tried PIPP but still get an error message when attempting to open the AVI in Registax. But I'm going to investigate PIPP further since this is the first time I have heard of this program. So I guess I'll be using Autostakkert to stack and then Registax for its wavelets. Thanks for that suggestion, Zakalwe.

Thank you for your response and question. The AVIs I'm trying to open but failing to are between 3.39 and 6.13 GB. Unfortunately, I no longer have the AVIs that Registax 6 did open. But your question raises the possibility that the size of the present AVIs may be an issue. I will try to film some smaller files to see if Registax will open those. Thanks again.

Registax 6 used to open the avi files from Sharpcap taken with my ZWO color camera. However suddenly Registax would not open the avi files any longer and I received a "range check error" message. At the same time, my computer would freeze causing me to press control-alt-delete to leave the program. I tried opening the avi's in VirtualDub but that program rejects my avi's also. I also uninstalled Registax and then installed it again. The same problem. The avi's will open in Autostakkert. Does anyone know of a fix for the Registax problem?
