  1. Exactly what I have done. Took some video files- converted to AVI. Unfortunately autostakkert looks ridiculously complicated once I opened it up. Will have to learn how to do it.
  2. Hi Craig. Had a go with Venus last night. Used 120x with 2x Barlow. Set it up with a smartphone adaptor and reduced the ISO to 50 and kept messing about with the shutter. At about 1/100 the brightness was taken away leaving a dull image which seemed to show the planet best. Is there anything else I can do to try and pick it up better?
  3. Nice image. I need some tips on Venus- my first attempt last night was awful.
  4. Im in NW Newcastle.. probably pretty easy to get to Kielder but never tried it yet. Not sure I could get the DOB in the car tho
  5. Was letting the cat in last night and WOW I was stunned with Mars... brightest ive ever seen it. I could even pick out the icecaps from a zoomed in SLR shot Not sure if Its high enough to get the scope on it mind.
  6. Thanks folks. Is it possible to take video and stack? Or would you take multiple shots?
  7. Ive seen some good stuff done with just a smartphone. I fancy trying this. Does anyone reccommend a good smartphone adaptor? I have an 8 inch Dob
  8. Thanks for that. Never thought of flares. Wouldnt the flares be a lot weaker coming from a smaller star? Would any atmosphere in the planets deflect the xrays?
  9. Thanks thats superb. Mind blowing stuff that we can tell exactly whats going on from trillions of miles away. Do you know if we can see this star from Earth with a small telescope or is it too faint?
  10. One day I thought it was a plane coming in to land. Ridiculous.
  11. Thanks all. Good stuff. It was visible tonight from our house all evening. It looked superb as it got down low on the horizon too. I can't ever remember seeing the hottest planet so bright.
  12. Just seen Venus in blue sky with the naked eye. Incredible. Is it at its brightest at the moment?
  13. Just been out. Only for 15 mins as the dew was bad and the clouds were starting to roll over. Missed the GRS but the bands were looking decent. Quick question on the moons.. how come Callisto was out of line with the rest of them? I thought they were always all in a line?
