  1. I've travelled with my skymax 90, no problems except the eq-1 mount got to be a tad weighty lugging it around. Mounted on a semi-decent camera tripod it still does what it's supposed to do. It packed away into my 20x80 binocular case (usually available on astro boot) very nicely with room for a set of WA eye pieces. I do believe that there is one on ye olde baye des fleases, as we speak.... My mistake, it seems to be an 80mm, still, cheap and cheerful I reckon... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sky-watcher-Telescope-/160896676860?pt=UK_Photography_Telescopes&hash=item25763073fc#ht_481wt_1050
  2. Another bane of my life, dog hairs! They get everywhere, how wee stinky isn't bald by now I don't know....
  3. I worked with plenty of guys like that, needles to say, they are still roughnecks, or else progressed slightly further and became fast food vendors..... RTFM!
  4. These rories only seem to happen when I'm down here at 21 degrees North, TOTALLY unfair!
  5. Very normal I'm afraid, the bane of my observing, but now I've invested in dew protection, can't wait to get using it
  6. I'm hoping to get some Chinese biccies when I get off the rig, coconut wafers, never seen them in the UK, so they'll be available for sampling... or possibly, I could just be a glutton and fill the Land Rover with crumbses....
  7. Oh, and I mustn't forget old faithful, my TAL-1, Brrrrrrr......
  8. Baaaaahhhhhh! Nothing is working over here! Every link is timing out, damned GFWoC!
  9. I've decided to get the NEQ-6, once I've convinced myself that I can afford it. How Meade ever got away with hoisting the 10" SNT onto their LXD-75 is beyond me, mine creaks and groans and often needs a wee push or else it stalls out and I have to re-set it. I'll use the LXD for a lighter scope, and put the NEQ-6 in the observatory.
  10. My 10" Meade SNT: My SW 90-900 refractor:

  12. Only five faint and fast fizzlers last night, although it was the clearest night for quite a while. Ah well, the Orionids at PSP to look forward to....
  13. Mauna Kea is on my bucket list, perhaps if I stop buying astro gear in a random manner, I could skwiwull away the coinage to make the trip, or perhaps find some way to get someone else to pay for it... mmmm!
  14. Greetings fellow Lancashirian, where about in G*d's own county are you? I bide in Rossendale
  15. A couple of Draconids this evening, between abour 20:00-20:30, the first sign of stars for ages too.... the wind was a bit much and the helideck steps rather sore on the old glutes to be stopping out too long. I may pop out agin laterer, better prepared...

  18. Nice smart workmanship, 'tis good to see.
  19. I had no problem obtaining hypodermics from my local Boots, I explained that they were for re-filling my e-cigarette. All I had to do was initial the 'junky book' a rather sad reflection on life in a Northern town, having a 'junky book', but such is the state of the world I guess....
  20. Thankfully, I have an enourmous supply of 'Kimtech' tissue wipes, used in conjunction with Uvex lens cleaning solution, all available FOC from my employer...
