  1. It is as the above. that knob in the holes, that is the tuning bit i think. the front of the tube does not rotate as its a single stack only.
  2. its an internal eatlon.. not sure if i'm doing the things right now
  3. found the problem... i made the flat before applying the 2x barlow 🤦‍♂️
  4. Thank you for the suggestions. don't know about 1.. have tried all the 3 holes in which the tuner can be inserted. This is the best i get 2 and 3 were not the case...
  5. edited from a short exposure.. though i tried other exposures as well. There are hardly any details in visual as well
  6. Thank you... hope they deal with aftermarket scopes as well.
  7. Does anyone have an idea where i can send a secondhand solarmax 60 (so out of warranty) to be looked at and possibly repaired? It just shows a mostly flat featureless disc, like seeing the sun in white light with prominences added. Turning the knob just gets rid of prominences without adding detail. i thought previously this might have been due to the sun not having much features when i bought it, but i think now the eatlon may be having issues. having owned a lunt 35 and a quark earlier, i know there must be more which is missing. My lunt 35 showed more features in the solar minimum An image is attached below. surely there must be more detail which my 174m should be able to pull out
  8. Hi all, I tried flat fielding for the first time in AS3! yesterday but I failed miserably. Please can someone advise what has gone wrong here? To give an idea, I've stacked the light frames without the flat, this is attached below alongwith the flat and the result which i get when i stack using the flat.
  9. That's great to know.. 4 years of doing Ha and I didn't try that.. Thanks will give it a shot next time. I have the hypercam 174 so got plenty of space to move the sun around on the sensor
  10. Can you actually get even illumination with a tilt tuned scope. Lunt is pressure tuned if I'm not wrong..
  11. The seeing was extremely bad, or it could have been me. While changing the focuser, forgot to mark the hole which had the screw originally. There was nothing visually except some prominences even after tuning knob being turned either way. Luckily camera picked some details

  13. With the pixel 4 entering into fray, this will be more interesting next time..
  14. Yep.. That just means ordering a new focuser. I opened up the motor to see all plastic gears in disarray. Positioned them in original order, it ran for a min then again messed up
  15. This was a test run of Hypercam 174m. The skywatcher autofocuser broke so I got shoddy focus and I was trying to avoid sun burn, so could not correct the tilt totally. But happy with the cam, got 70fps, a contrast to the 3fps i got with my old cam and laptop.
  16. Smarteq... dont touch it from a mile away. Shoddy all the way
  17. So i made another purchase.. OAG. I have zwo 120mcs. I gather mono cams are better, but with 75% qe, has anyone used an oag with this cam? Or god forbid i have to buy another cam
  18. Any tips on how to equalise levels between frames so the flickering/flashing can be eliminated?
