  2. Thank you all so much for the responses! So for planetary observing and imaging the celestron would do because it's a SCT on an Alt/Az mount right? And would u still be able to efficiently view DSO but not image them with that scope?
  3. Hello, I'm a young astronomy enthusiast. I would like to purchase my first high quality telescope. I have a cheap one that I got when I was 10 that I've actually managed to take some decent pictures with. I have been trying to decide between a Celestron SE either 6 or 8 in, or the Celestron Advanced VX 8 Inch Newtonian Telescope. I would like to do quite a fair amount of observing and also some planetary imaging and much more deep space imaging. Keep in mind im on a high schoolers budget and only have around $1300 to work with. Any advice would be immensely appreciated!
