  1. I do have a dewsheild Dave from one of my Celestrons, a quick change over and hopefully the Saxon's front tube ring won't be in the way to hold it on securely.
  2. Dave, your 12's would be pushing for the start of a hernia. 14's+ hernia with a touch of rhoids I think the 12's at my age would be the limit for me without blowing the main valve.
  3. The back end. Yeah it's only and rack and pinion focuser but it does feel good, no sticky sounds, moves quite freely with no noticeable slack or slop. It's the first Cassegrain I've had with this type of focuser, I nice touch I think. The collimation screws are under the rubber oval plugs. I'll try to throw it up on the EQ6 in a couple of hours. The sky is looking clear so far.
  4. Not many of these around my neck of the woods, or anywhere in fact. The Saxon Mak203. One word to describe it, Heavy! Such a big weight for a small drum due to the 2 large chunks of glass inside. It comes with a 2" visual back and 2" star diagonal as standard with a decent, smooth 1 speed focuser with 2 large focuser wheels each side, brass compression ring lock, collimatable primary mirror and a straight through 10x50 finderscope. What also was a bonus was the Saxon 8" OTA rings and dovetail bar which I can also use on my Meade LX200 8" Classic SCT OTA which I've been chasing up for some time. I've just weighed it and it comes in at around 13.7kg with all attachments and a 1.25" EP. It seems much more than that lifting it. First inspections and impressions are very good, solidly built, well maintained with a few specs of dust inside, but nothing to worry about. Will have a look-see through it tonight, that's if those clouds have cleared.

  14. Yeah, I guess I'm committed now. Have worked out that 9 x 1.25" ep's will fit in evenly spaced. With what I have in spares, 3 x 1.25" ep's, 2 x 0.965" ep's, 1 x 0.965" Barlow, laser colimator with 2" adapter and night vision LED flashlight and still have a little room to spare.
  15. My intensions for buying this from the second hand markets was for my refractor ota but I may use it for my spare ep's and some other accessories. It's a sturdy well made box. Has a sticker on it, Sandvik Coromant... metal working tools apparently. Good for something, just not sure what to do with it yet.
  16. Reunited with Dob. Yep another one.

  17. *latches I wish there was an edit option here for your posts, even for 30 minutes would be handy. Very annoying not being able to edit.
  18. I forgot I had this case and bought it from a second hand market years ago for $2. It was from one of those swimming pool specialist places originally. I was using it for my aquarium stuff some years ago and have only re-discovered it. The holes were already there and fits most of my extra's in quite well. I can't see the plastic lates lasting long though which are just push and click latches. It might be worth checking out your local pool specialist to see if they have any old ones laying around out the back. You may pick one up for under a 10'er.
  19. It might be best to contact Philips but they themselves don't even have the driver for Windows 8 on their site for that cam.
  20. Orion case set, Orion Sirius Plossl 6.3, 7.5, 10, 17, 40, shorty 2x Barlow Mixed Celestron case set, Plossl 6, 8, 13, Super Plossl 25 52degree, 32, unknown Super 25 wide angle (think it's from a previous Dob), Optex 2x Barlow. LE 9, 20, 25 plus a couple of 0.965" EP's and 3x Barlow and other stuff. Looking for a larger case to fit this last lot in and some 2" EP's but no longer have a scope with a 2" focuser, that's not going to stop me buying them though and not to mention my rather large and ever increasing wish list When will it stop?!
  21. Very disapointed. My Nikon D3100 overexposures in all modes in daylight condition except for manual setting mode. Seems to have metering issues, not sure if it's the camera or the standard lens. Practically all white photos.

I'm not sure Ronin, was bought very cheap second hand, just the body, then bought a second hand lens. Some Nikons has exposure issues with certain lenses and not all have the same problems. This is the 2nd problem on the list for it but I don't think I can fix this one. I've reset the camera settings many times, checked re-checked, everything is on default settings. Even in manual setting mode I need to move the exposure level meter almost completely to the right (- side).

I did test it when I first got it late last year inside my home at night in low light conditions, the flash pops up and it takes good shots. It's really got me stumped. Second test was yesterday, mid afternoon, sunny day, couldn't get anything, almost white shots with a little vague forground image that showed up, can't even edit the shots they were that bad and deleted. I did originally think it was modded but now I don't think it is. Light metering is way out. Just a dud buy.

The only things I can think of to do now is like you say Ronin is check the ISO setting but I thought the set auto shot settings like Landscape, Portrait, Sports etc all have set values, I tried them all. Quite sure I had it set to 100ISO or 200ISO max during the day. Or I can update the firmware from A1.01 to A1.02 and hope it fixes it, don't like my chances.
