  1. This was an annular eclipse for those in the zone. My location (Georgia) got about 50% of the sun eclipsed by the moon. Wasn't sure if I was going to see it at all with the thick cloud dominating the morning hours. By noon, the clouds began to move out. I took several shots, some at prime focus and some with the DSLR only. I'm posting the best two out of the bunch. You can see a sunspot in this prime focus shot through my 127mm Mak: Here is a shot with my Nikon D3200 with 300x zoom lens: Cheers! Reggie🤩
  2. It's just a guess because the light is traveling through more glass and there could be some anomalies.
  3. I have the same scope (plus a 180mm Mak) and camera. Nice work! I wonder if the Barlow could be causing the bluish fringe.
  4. Brilliant image! Lots of detail and clarity.
  5. Big congratulations, Kostas! You richly deserve it; your images are top-notch 👍 Duplicate post but that's ok. You deserve it twice!
  6. Big congratulations, Kostas! You richly deserve it; your images are top-notch! 👍
  7. Four for one! A chance imaging session with Jupiter revealed more than I bargained for. I used the usual gear: Orion 180mm Mak-Cass, ASI-224mc, Firecapture, Registax 6, and Photoshop. The GRS seems to be shrinking more and more. Europa had just begun its transit on the lower right limb of Jupiter and its shadow was moving toward the left. Io is out to the far left. Cheers! Reggie
  8. Can't argue the specs, but there is much beauty to behold with a 180 Mak and you've illustrated that
  9. Crackin' image, Chris! Love those colorful bands! I have a 180mm Mak also. I don't think you need a C14 for imaging planets; you're getting fabulous images! Regards, Reggie🤩
  10. Beautiful, Kostas. Crisp GRS! Now, get some rest, lol Reggie
  11. Wonderful images, Kon. You're putting those filters to work! I need to use my CH4 more often. Regards, Reggie
  12. Striking series of shots.🤩
  13. And here it is! I could barely fit in the frame: Quite a bit larger (closer) than it was in January:
  14. Great Jupiter, Kostas. Uranus is always a delight. Seeing that little blue-green disc in the eyepiece always takes me back to the first I saw it through my Big Mak (180mm). It was an emotional experience, even more so than when I first saw Neptune. Nice work!
  15. I'm just up the road in Macon. Savannah is gorgeous; I love River Street and Tybee Island. Did you see the ocean?
  16. Thanks, Jeremy. Did you have clear skies for the opposition?
  17. Thanks, my friend. Sending clear skies your way. I can't wait to see your images!
  18. Imaging and observing on the night of opposition revealed the notable Seeliger effect. The rings of Saturn show significant brightening from the full illumination of the Sun. I included an image from just a week prior "highlighting" the effect. Both images were captured with the ASI 224mc and Orion 180mm Mak-Cass using FireCapture, processed in Registax 6, with post-processing in Photoshop. Identical capture settings were used for both images: I generally prefer imaging Saturn in the weeks before or after opposition. The Seeliger effect seems to wash out the finer details (at least for me). Images captured at r.j.s. observatory™ Cheers! Reggie 🤩
  19. Thanks, Simon. I look forward to getting a striking edge-on image in 2025! 🤩
  20. Crackin' images, Simon! I like the softness and texture while still revealing copious detail. Saturn is a cornucopia of colors! The GRS AND a moon/shadow transit can't be beat! Reggie
