Much better than half decent. That's a fabulous Jupiter, Kostas! I noticed the color image had more detail. I read the post in which you explained your process. Nice results!

It’s a great image, I have never attempted Uranus but now I have been inspired to have a crack at it.
Go for it, Sunshine! I'm sure you'd do a great job

Shape and colour are nice, just denoise and it will be an excellent image 🤩.
How is this?

Nice capture Reggie. My only advice is to denoise more or go easier on the wavelets as you seem to have some noise specs; with your aperture and colour capture, you will not have any details.
Thanks, Kostas. I'll probably play around some more with the data. I knew I wasn't going to get detail but it was fun getting some shape and color

I never tried very hard to image Uranus except when it was in conjunction with a much brighter planet using my DSLR. This particular night I decided to try my luck with the ASI 224mc/Orion 180mm Mak combo. Getting the tiny disc of light on the sensor (and with a Barlow, no less) was a bit of a challenge but doable. I wasn't expecting to get any detail but hopefully a well-resolved bluish-green disc. I think I succeeded:

A very nice capture indeed. Well done.

Thanks, Lee. I try to get a striking shot for apparitions like this. I toyed with the exposure until I got it just right

Thanks Reggie,
The only previous time I've captured Uranus's moons was with a DSLR camera back in 2014. https://www.astrobin.com/136156/
As the capture notes show that was using DSO capture techniques of nearly 3/4 hour in 3m exposures. Of course Uranus itself was completely overexposed and saturated white.
Wow, that is a great shot!

Great work, Geof! I'm happy just to see the little blue-green disc in my scope. I've actually taken some cool shots of Uranus with my DSLR when it was in conjunction with other planets, but, of course, no detail could be seen. I could get a hint of its color though.

Nice capture Reggie. GRS always brings something more to the images.
Thanks, Kostas. You're right; the GRS really adds something to the view. Moon and shadow transits are exciting, too!

I only planned to have a long evening of observing when I noticed the GRS was nearly dead-center. Of course, I had to gather some quick data after which I resumed an extended observing session (from about 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. - no work the next morning)!

Nicely done Reggie.
It must be an illusion with a bright spot in the SEB to the left of Io's shadow, making it look like Io following the shadow as it was prior to opposition.
Thanks, Geof. It actually was Io; left-right orientation was flipped.

Love, love, LOVE the colors you brought out in the first image. The textures in all of the images are exquisite.

Brilliant! I noticed that new feature on my images as well. Jupiter is nothing if not dynamic.

It was quite a challenge, but I was up for it, and with a clear night calling I couldn't resist! Same setup: 180mm Mak, ASI 224mc, Celestron 2x Barlow, Firecapture, Registax 6, and Photoshop. The most difficult part was getting such a dim target (especially using Barlow) onto the sensor:
For comparison, here again is my recent image of Uranus using the same setup:
Cheers!
