  1. Thanks, Pete. They are nice to wake up to, lol
  2. Here are few widefield shots of the waxing crescent moon with Venus and The Hyades in tow! Cheers! Reggie
  3. Gorgeous images, Craig. Can't wait to see the sequence Reggie
  4. Not sure, but my guess it that it's a satellite. Doesn't look very much like a meteor trail to me. Great shots! Reggie
  5. Excellent, Richard! Your efforts paid off in spades. Gorgeous Whirlpool, and you caught the Southern Integral Sign, too. Bravo! Regards, Reggie
  6. Catch Orion while you still can in the early to mid-evening sky as it's progressively moving westward. And as you gaze at the illustrious hunter, try looking at him as other civilizations did in the past (or do now). Here are some alternate ways of interpreting this constellation: Okay, here is the constellation we all know and love: This configuration was not only known as Orion: Here are some totally different interpretations: Clear skies! Reggie
  7. Brilliant image, Craig! That's a real looker Reggie
  8. I agree with Peter; they are best observed when high above the horizon whether morning or night to minimize the effect of atmospheric turbulence. Regards, Reggie
  9. Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, and the Moon have made some interesting apparitions over the past few mornings. Fortunately, I got a clear spell and was able to get some nice shots of the celestial lineup: Clear skies! Reggie
  10. Love this! I hope to have clear skies in the morning to try for a shot Regards, Reggie
  11. Go for it, Chefgage. It's fun to trace out the stick figures on the sky
  12. Nice crescent phase. Great first attempt! Clear skies, Reggie
  13. It was an exceptionally clear night and I couldn't resist taking some shots in between observing (with no less than three telescopes, lol). I include captions and line drawings when necessary in some of the photos to facilitate seeing the form of the constellations. Here we go! Orion (Betelgeuse looks back to normal!): Hyades, Venus and The Pleiades: Auriga: Gemini: Gemini and Auriga: Ursa Major: Bootes: Virgo: Leo: Clear skies! Reggie
  14. For me, the best time to see it is from December to March with a decent south horizon. It's a worthwhile target
  15. Nice pink moon shots, Jonk! I really love Venus and The Pleiades through the tree branch ❤️ Clear skies, Reggie
  16. Thanks, Pete. It was a fun run of evenings
  17. Thanks, George. I'm sure you'll be as spry and enthusiastic in 2028!
  18. Inspired by @Fozzie, here's my collage of the Venus/Pleiades conjunction over the past few nights: Looking forward to April 2028 when this all happens again! 👍 Reggie
  19. Great collage, Fozzie. I think I'll do the same! Did you know that this was a cyclical event (every 8 years)? Cheers, Reggie
