  1. Microsoft have an iPad client for Remote DEsktop. I’ve run quite an few astronomy applications on Windows 11 with no issues.
  2. From IPad a have SLT130 & AVX with WiFi adapter using SkySafari - not my preferred as it needed something else for focussing, scheduling etc. I was using a DSLR with intervalometer. Which brings me to: The ASI Air/AirPro which control AVX/CGEM-DX/CGX-L mounts, and their EAF, filter wheel, and their image and guiding cameras. Option I have also done with a Stick PC (not much bigger than my index and forefingers combined) TeamViewer on the iPad, managed PGP2, SGPro (managing scheduling, Celestron’s filter wheel, Pegasus focusser), Astronometry and Stellarium Have done the same using Mico$oft Remote apps. I can do a complete breakdown if need.
  3. Can you state what equipment you have/plan to have. i have been using an iPad to control a number of different rigs over the year
  4. They did. I think it was a mono CCD so, use of filters possible degraded guiding? The ASI2600MC-DUO is a colour sensor.
  5. SkyShed sell plans for a ROR observatory. SkyShed Roll-Off Observatory Plans - SkyShed Observatories
  6. Check feedback on several of the forums on this site. Quite mixed.
  7. It was partly finding space to put to runner supports without a redesign of future guard works.
  8. Having compared ROR vs Dome observatories, I settled for a dome setup, 2.5m diameter. It is more expensive, sourced from UK, as I added dome and shutter controls, however the Telescope Express with shipping + VAT + shipping + construction was about the same at the time. Used a local company to build the base; they added 0.1m to the dimensions, and another 100m to the depth at no cost. They also installed a conduit from house to base for power and networking. We have used them before for prior work, so, pays to build a relationship locally. Wish you good fortune with your project.
  9. Pulsar Observatory due to be delivered Thurs 13. Power and network cables have been pulled through the conduit courtesy of an installation engineer recommended by CFO. More good news, had my eyes tested last week and cataracts degraded significantly in past 6 months, so was referred to NHS - lead time 60+ weeks Booked test with Optical Express last Thus, for this am, and my cataract surgery is 26th April this year. Bad news, some planned work of power distribution will be deferred to pay for this.
  10. Do you have PEC enabled on the mount? I believe it impacts negatively on guiding and dither recover.
  11. I was wondering how many imagers there are in West Calder area.
  12. Planterary views fae a tin can, now that’s clever.
  13. A great idea. A quick online search and I found the West Calder Aeromodelers website, am preparing an email with a view to arranging access for astrophotographers. If anyone is already a member of this aeromodelers group, that would help greatly.
  14. I think what I want to do is to run external fibre from observatory to waterproof housing on house external wall, through wall to a second housing with coupler connecting to indoor cabling. in the observatory, the outdoor fibre would run via media converter to RJ45 Ethernet connector initially - I will add a couple of metres more that I need just in case To the fibre cabling experts: Does that make sense? any recommendations for external/internal cable specs ditto for media converters I’m too long in the tooth to start becoming knowledgable in this as well :(, and why do it if someone can advise/explain the basics.
  15. I have just sen this thread. Although I did not know him, his knowledge helped me get a handle on many aspects of this hobby. RIP John, condolences although belated to family Iain
  16. Re your last, unfortunately I nerve problem that causes constant shakes in my arms and prevents using tools easily which is why I am having to get someone in. I Used to do all the electrical work before that.
  17. There is ducting in place, so just needs pulled through with a snake.
  18. The first week of lead time for the Pulsar observatory has now passed, only 3-5 weeks left. Got my 1st quote for electrical work, £2112 Supply & Install Sub consumer unit for Supply & install 70 metres 10mm 3core SWA Wire sockets radial in shed, including trunking conduit insta clients consumer unit in shed Install clients cat § Cable and terminate with RJ45 ends (we will only supply internal ends) I’ve previously been advised the existing consumer unit is not to spec, but, they omitted that from the list. Cost of armoured cabled quoted is £18/metre - about 3x the costs I’ve seen elsewhere - but this is where they make there money. Electrical work is also not too urgent as I have dual external sockets at the back wall near the other end of the conduit. I think I’ll get the cable myself - and wait for the other quotes.
  19. Here’s the un-shuttered and sealed base with power conduit in place. All hose it all down in next few days and put Telegizmo 365 cover over.
