  6. You wait! There may be a day that comes when you want to trade it in for a better model & you Will feel guilty yet excited at the same time! I did the same thing! I traded a 6" for a 12" & now I'm a very happy girl!
  7. I think I'd quite like to present my own physics programme! I'll start with GCSE level. Just off to buy a cubic zircona & call "rent a z-lister"! TBH, I quite enjoyed it.
  8. Please see below "Me to Sainsbury's lady: 'Do you have any astronomy magazines?' She replies 'Only Soul & Spirit', ... nooooooooooooooooo" She then went on to say they don't stock them because it's not that popular a subject to bother having magazines on the subject............ Red mist rising & that's because I'm Scorpio! LOL:hello2:

  14. I posted this article on my works astronomy forum: BBC News - Sun storms 'could be more disruptive within decades' to which a colleague asked the following: The language used seems counterintuitive, but I suspect it is just my lack of understanding. Can I ask - if the sun is leaving the grand solar maximum, why will this result in an increase in radiation hitting the Earth? In my mind, solar activity is linked to decreased stability in the overall magnetosphere of the sun, so that things are generally more turbulent and unpredictable as the ebb and flow of gas/energy becomes, I suppose less laminar. When solar flares and sun spots do occur I would have thought these are on a greater scale than at the solar minimum (of the 11 yr cycle). This is extremely simplistic and is how I can best understand what we know about solar dynamics. Does the grand solar cycle work differently? I have no idea!! not familiar with this area at all, can someone answer this please....? Thanks Claire
  15. 35, nearly 36... will still keep rounding down though!! ;-)
  16. A stick. A very strong magnet specifically for meteorites & watch Meteoriteman! You might be better off going to the poles & having a look ;-)
  17. Highlights - Astrognomes patience (I can still see your eyes rolling!!), bless you. You're a star. - Endless help from everyone, you're a very kind bunch of people, thanks. - Hours of unexpected clear (ish) skies. - Giggles provided by the surrounding bods, for various reasons. Thank you. - Hearing a story about a certain lady going face first into the stinging nettles blind drunk (shouldn't laugh) Lowlights - Getting myself in a strop when I couldn'd find the M13, realised I was looking in Cephus.. Oooops - Not getting round to saying Hi to everyone. I'm not with stupid, I am stupid!! Can't wait for the next time Claire
  18. Excellent mate, the depth & colour are amazing.
  19. Hi, I managed to squeeze the following into my Geosciences degree - good times!!! ;-) S196 (Planets) & S194 (Astronomy) - both very basic short courses. S286 (Planetary Science & the search for life - all textbook based astrobiology/ astrophysics) goes hand in hand with.... SXR208 (Observing the Universe Residential course based in Observatory Mallorca - it's basically Astrophysics, spectroscopy that sort of thing...excellent, the best course I have ever done! but this year is the last year they're doing it I believe). Some of it was heavy going at times, like doing maths at 4am in the morning after a long nights observing, but well worth every moment. All in all, it's taken me just over 4yrs, whilst working full-time to get my degree. All the best Claire
  20. Thanks to all the organisers for making it happen, another great starparty! Thanks to everyone else for the laughs, hope to meet with u relatively soon (not too soon, my face is still aching from laughing so much). :-)
