  1. I second that opinion. I use winged eyeguards on a lot of my eyepieces. Really does work well. If the rubber eyeguard is a bit too big, simply cut and put inside the eyeguard, a small strip of that sticky backed velour often used for inside of scope tubes, for a snug fit. Added bonus is that the rubber can act as a shield against sub zero aluminium touching eye socket area, should you be brave/insane enough to venture out in those conditions. Andy.
  2. If a Tak prism(90 deg refersed like a mirror) doesn't work, probably nothing will. It uses up about 62-63mm of focus. it's the shortest i can think of. The various forms of amici or the rarer penta use up much more focus. Possibly more than a mirror type which can vary 'tween 73-85mm, depending on the manufacturer. Andy.
  3. Agreed. Blue or even purple loctite will do the job. Handy stuff, esp for spectacle micro screws etc. i've had a bottle of purple for what seems like forever. Still seems to work. http://www.loctite.com.au/aue/content_data/133403_LT_4985_Threadlocking_Users_Guide.pdf Andy
  4. With a mount that has been around as long as the variants of the EQ6 has, and the amount of weight it can carry, I must admit Id've thought this problem would've been taken care of by now. But hey-ho.
  5. Stonkin' great scope, mount, tripod. Just great. In the weeks to come we expect close up pics of everything, 'cause, well, it's the law. Andy.
  6. Regarding Tal - The above I posted back in October. Not much has changed since then and if anything things have probably got worse. ie: sanctions, bans on exports(or at least it's really difficult to import from Russia), the Ruble is still in the toilet etc etc etc.... Here's the last known pricelist .... Розничный Прайс 2015 Телескопы.pdf If you want to fantasise about buying probably non existent items, 1000 Rubles is about £10. Therefore move the decimal point(or comma in the lists) to the left two places to see what you would pay if a/ item was in stock b/ you could walk through the back of a cupboard into the factory showroom/sales desk and hand over some currency. I think I'd buy a x2 barlow(£18-98) & ext tube to turn it into a x3(£5-93). then 1 each of their 1.25" & 2" diagonals(£24-15 & £32-20) The things you do went it's cloudy . Mind you, looks like it's going to be clear for the 2nd night in a row. What?!?! Andy.
  7. Super review Bill ! Thanks, as always. These really are very well priced over here. A good chunk of change less, than a few of it's close rival ep's. Mmm. I think these may sell rather well.
  8. Only side-on view of my F10 Klevtsov I could find. Compare it to Steve's on page 2.
  9. Steve(Sloz) got in first on page 2 with his lovely F8.5. Mine is the older F10. Will need to post a side-on pic of mine to show the obvious difference in tube lengths.
  10. Here are mine Sadly I've only got two of them now. Loved em all. Maks and close equivalents are my first love.
  11. Nicely done Jules A nice set of pics and written notes. A fine resource for those thinking of doing this themselves.
  12. Yum, yum What are the two on the top right of the 3rd pic?
