  1. Great report, i was back home also at that time and M31 was a mk1 eyeball target it was really dark,
  2. FLO have observing chairs, but also check out ironing chairs as they are cheaper.
  3. I used to have the 10" LX200, one of the best mods made was by d fansler, a dongle that plugs in to the handset port on the scope, that fools the scope in to thinking the handset is connected. this allows full control of the scope from a laptop. This is great if the capacitors have blown and taken out the membrane in the hand controller..
  4. Hi Gareth,, Warm welcome to SGL, hope you enjoy the forums. Sounds like you are well down the path to the darkside

  15. hi Kev Was in Conway that night, and it was really clear, went down to Morfa, but too early... Congrats on an absolutely stunning bit of time lapse.
  16. Hi Lou, Warm welcome to SGL, hope you enjoy the forums. Ex pat from holyhead. There are a few on SGL that live on Anglesey. I would suggest that you open a new thread in the getting started equipment help / advice section for your new scope. That's a great budget, and you should be able to get a substantial setup for that cost. Hwyl!
  17. Its easy to test whether it is memory or slot, swap over the sticks of ram in the slots and see if the fault moves with the memory. If you have had 9 years out of the memory it has served you well. If it is the ram I would replace with two new modules and give yourself a small upgrade!. It's always better if you can keep the obsy above freezing. But it really does not matter whether desktop or laptop. It is easier to move laptop indoors, though you have the same challenge in keeping the electronics dry.
  18. Aber is wet!, if the clouds don't drop rain before heading up the lleyn and Snowdonia, then it is the other way round. Some lovely scenery though!!
  19. The 8-24mm Seben zoom is absoluteley fine, and comes out of the same factory as many other 8-24mm zooms. Their other zoom, however you cannot say the same for. But ditto comments above, use the supplied ep's, if you can join a local astro club and see what others have and what may suit you best. The BST starguiders have a great reputation for value and quality.
