  1. Interesting idea....bit of a [removed word] to get off if you change anything though. May I recommend a product called 'sticky stuff remover'.....you might need it!
  2. I'm looking forwards to this one. I've chosen my camera and lens / scope combos already and hope for good weather on those dates! This one is due south using a full frame / 85mm combo
  3. I've just had a look and cannot see it on there - did you go to the right one? https://groups.io/g/Sitechservo/topics **EDIT** I have found it on the Mesu-mount page. You are better off using the link above to be honest, as the Mesu page isn't that busy, and is probably only good for Mesu related things. Yours is definitely a Sitech controller issue and nothing to do with the mount itself.
  4. I 2nd that point. Remove all unnecessary connections and see what happens. Moisture may be at play here. If no joy and the controller moves the mount without any inout from a button or pc connection, visit the sitech groups.io forum and ask there, someone will be able to talk it through in a bit more detail.
  5. I recognise the name but didn’t know him personally. Nonetheless, I offer my sincere condolences and best wishes to his nearest and dearest. RIP.
  6. I didn't set up a DSLR or even go out to a darker site this year to catch the peak of the perseids, so relied on what the allsky could capture. I didn't hold out much hope given the big huge super mega death to us all Nicola Sturgeon moon, but checked through the images anyway. I did see 3 reasonable ones before I went to bed last night, but managed to capture a really nice one on the allsky this morning, not long before sunrise. No editing, jpg straight out of the software - I would have loved to have seen this one!
  7. I've had a few like this, but not sure if meteors or satellites.
  8. I’ve just seen 2 or 3 brilliant streaks, but also something else which I’ve seen before during the Perseids but not sure what to make of it. Basically, it’s a lot of very rapid streaks of light, almost like laser beams coming from a machine gun. It’s hard to explain, but saw the same a few years ago around 1am through the clouds and thought wow at the time. I’ve just seen the same about 10 mins ago but it’s too feint to see on the allsky. Really does look like a laser show. It’s cool.
  9. The donkeys in the New Forest can unzip your tent and let themselves in, I kid you not!
  10. I was at our local dark place a few years aog, learning how to use a dslr for widefield milky way stuff. A couple came up to us, middle of the night, full headtorch on and proceeded to ask me, 'oh, what are you doing? Are you doing an exposure?'....whilst not turning the headtorch off or out of my face. Luckily it was only practice shots but still....
  11. Literally just caught. Nice and bright!
  12. Some 'youths' used stargazing as a reason to be on top of a bank. This got me thinking, have you ever given stargazing as a reason you were somewhere you shouldn't have been (most likely on private property in the middle of nowhere I would imagine), but also, what's the best excuse given to one's other half for going out for stargazing? https://www.advertiserandtimes.co.uk/news/stargazing-youths-caught-by-police-on-barclays-roof-9267959/?utm_source=newsshowcase&utm_medium=gnews&utm_campaign=CDAqEAgAKgcICjDd2aQLMKDkvAMw0ddl&utm_content=rundown TLDR: “ABSOLUTE stupidity.” This was the police’s response after two youths caught standing on the roof of a Totton bank told them they were “stargazing”. Officers responded to a call-out last Friday night, reporting the pair were spotted on top of Barclays in Commercial Road. They came down and were spoken to before being taken home to explain to their parents what they had been doing. Two youngsters spotted on roof of Barclays in Commercial Road, Totton, told police they were "stargazing" (Photo: Google) “The reason? ‘Stargazing’,” a local officer posted on Facebook afterwards. “I don’t know much about this field, but I have a hunch that standing on a bank roof in the middle of Totton might not be the best place to see the stars. “Also, one of the boys nearly fell off the edge. Absolute stupidity.” The post went on to urge the parents and guardians of any “adventurous” youngsters to tell them it is not worth risking their lives with such behaviour. “We wouldn’t want to scrape them off the floor,” the officer added. Facebook users took to the comments to criticise the youths’ actions. One wrote: “They'll be seeing stars when they fall.”
  13. Sorry, can’t agree with this. There are a couple of outstanding issues with Sitech that Dan Gray has been aware of for months and hasn’t managed to fix yet.
  14. I’ve also heard this. Very good idea to have alternative options. Nice looking ‘proper’ workshop too!
