  1. cheers for the reply Malcolm, I think i tried camera two & it kept coming up with the cooler had turned off, will try the other two options.
  2. Can anyone tell me which Ascom camera i connect to for my guide scope as there are three showing two with Altair Ascom driver 1& 2 and also one that says Altair 2015/2016 but it doesn't say if it's Ascom or not. Mine's one of the first GP cams so it will be more than likely the 2015 /2016.
  3. Have a look at the ASI air plus fits to the top of your scope and does everything for you via a SD card with a wifi range up to 20 metres controlled by an app on your smart phone/ tablet (no need to go outside). DLSR most probably cheap option( need to check the list for compatibility) otherwise a zwo astro camera your choice. Refractor/reflector scope, small refractors good for wide field images. the other option would be DSLR, Star tracker (you will need a camera tripod ) & a intervalometer & save your images to your SD card
  4. each program should have a user manual online, download them and keep them in a file for reference. using SIRIL for pre processing myself quite a good program.
  5. Managed to try nina out and is saving my images, did get an error with plate solving but i realised that i'd changed my FF for a FF/ 0.8 reducer taking my scope down to 4.8 FL plus i had a few internet problems but i'm getting there. thanks again Paul for the info.
  6. just do Darks when your imaging then use the flats and bias, then after a couple of imaging sessions redo your flats and Bias
  7. While your online, what gain & offset do you use in general for your 533 pro
  8. I did'nt see that image file path, i just created one on the sequence page after browsing my files on there, i will set that one up & see what happens thanks for the info Paul Bruno
  9. A quick question hopefully that can be answered on here, I have just started playing with NINA i can get everything working but I get a message up can not find saved image path/ directory, and the floppy disc image at the bottom left of the page is greyed out, but the save sequence & load sequence are highlighted, Am i missing something?. I have tried to set a path in my astro folder & it just says path not found. Thanks for any replies Bruno
  10. Now understand it a bit better, only need to wind 17mm now with the ff on, got two decent images the other night thanks for all your imputs
  11. Im measuring from the where the f/reducer buts up the the scope focuser back to the 533 sensor, just checked the lens is only 10mm inside the reducer body & i been measuring the whole body upto the focuser (my bad). still why did i have to wind out my focuser another 54mm when i had the correct b/focuser to get an image, i'd have thought that once yo got your b/focus on your camera you would'nt have to wind out much.
  12. Hi David With the 533 + filter holder + reducer i get an overall length of 70mm to achieve this I got rid of the reducer and replaced it with just a 2mm extension piece of 22mm giving me the 58 mm i need. the question is why then do i have to bring the focuser on the scope another 54 mm?, Also if i put my f/reducer on my DLSR which has a back focus of 44mm i only have to adjust the focuser on the scope 19mm? Hope that explains it a bit clearer.
  13. Hi All I have just changed cameras from DSLR to a zwo 533, the question? on the 533 I got the back focus to the required 58mm then when on the scope (80mmrefractor) I had to adjust the scope focuser to 55mm to get an image. But with the camera (44mm)& the 0.85 reducer (35mm) I only had to adjust the focuser to 19mm? there was no FR on the 533, but it would take it to the same backfocus if i put it on. Thanks in Anticipation Bruno

  17. As already said start with the basics, watch the you tube video on how to set your mount to the home position then learn how to balance the scope on the mount (complete with DSLR, finder scope and anything you want attached) Make sure the time and date is correct do a polar align when you are sure that polar alignment is right just do a single star alignment with vega centre the star ok it send the mount back to home postion then send it to vega again and see if it aligns. if you are using a phone / tablet to run your mount make sure the times are the same as this will throw your mount out. Now grit your teeth, take a deep breath & get out there.
  18. Cheapastrophotography cameras you get astro moddified cameras at a good price, then an adapter to connect to a field flattener to your camera(as well the field flattener) or just get a lens (A cheap nifty fifty) or just buy a CMOS camera and your telescope will be your lens. Also have a look at astrobackyards Review about the Star adventurer-pro on you tube may help you to decide.
  19. You may have the right co-ordinates but the wrong way round? sounds more like a firmware issue other than a power issue, have you made sure all your connections are pushed in H/set , main board connections (main have a connection between RA & Dec, check that the motors go the right way when you just the handset N S E W. hope this helps
  20. nebulosity is a good program for capture and stacking or iris ( need to be a rocket scientist) but it,s free and very pwerful
