  1. Hello, All, Please excuse my first post striking a note of suspicion but I'd welcome opinions on, or experiences of, the following. A couple/three months ago a binocular-telescope was advertised for sale on eB*y. It seems not to have sold for in January and again in Feb. it appeared on G*mtree, on which site it came under the 'house-clearance' category. The seller, a 'frank', purports to be in the 'Highland' region. Upon my e-mailing, I received a couple of desultory, unpromising replies; wrote again offering to go and view the item; whereafter, zip: no further responses. The seller would appear to have quite a lot of items for sale and if his is a genuine business I certainly do not intend to damage it (while wishing he'd take a course in customer-care). I did a bit of a search and found records of a firm with the poignant name, 'Highland Clearance'. I rang and spoke with a charming man who assured me that the ad was not his; indeed who mused he'd quite fancy a bino-'scope such as the one supposedly for sale. Well, there we are. Honestly, I'll be delighted if an SGL-member has already acquired the genuine article, and all that's really at issue here is a seller who's not good at keeping in touch. A.F.
