  1. @Nigella Bryant is that a penny farthing lurking at the back?
  2. They are about to release a newer version with USB3 https://pegasusastro.com/products/pocket-powerbox-advance/
  3. i got this off FLO's site for thr RASA 8" Built for Today's Cameras Unlike the larger RASAs, the 8" model is not suitable for use with DSLR cameras. Instead it has been optimised for use with cameras that have sensors with a diagonal size ~22mm, which gives an image circle of 3.15°. This makes it an excellent choice for use with today's highly popular CMOS deep sky cameras, such as the ASI183 & ASI1600 series from ZWO. Starlight Xpress' compact CCD cameras also work very well. And whilst ~22mm diagonal is optimal the RASA 8 can also be used with larger sensors up to 32mm diagonal, including the APS-C sized sensors used in many mirrorless cameras, though some compromise must be expected at the image periphery. Celestron advise camera bodies should be less than ~100mm / 4" in diameter.
  4. They don't it's a RASA 8" the camera would cover most of the aperture
  5. I wrapped my camera in tinfoil with my intervalometer and put it in the fridge until the battery ran out a few times. It gave me a range of temperatures that I sorted into folders 8-12C went into 10C folder, 13-17C into 15C etc. then I stacked what I had and made masters for each temp range.
  6. @tooth_dr I'm a biy confused by your response to my suggestion, as I was assuming he was already using narrowband filters, but not very often due to having Bortle 5 skies, and you are assuming he hasn't got them already, but his signature only says "ZWO 31mm Filters". My point was that the second scope would only need a Luminance filter while the other scope collected colour.
  7. @SamAndrew why would you buy an additional filter wheel and a full set of filters if you are only going to capture luminance through one of your scopes?
  8. 4.3µm it took a bit to find got it from here https://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/canon-t6/canon-t6DAT.HTM
  9. As to learning astrophotography the majority of us on here would recommend this book to read before you start spending loads more money on additional equipment https://www.firstlightoptics.com/books/making-every-photon-count-steve-richards.html
  10. Hi @AstroRookie welcome to the forum and if you post in here you'll be very well recieved by the rest of the EQ6R-Pro owners, it's a very good mount I've been very pleased with mine.
  11. I use a 450D and it works well but I control it through my laptop and APT. If you are going to just control the camera manually the 600D would be preferable as it has a flip out screen that can be adjusted to view at different angles, which is kinder on your neck, back, legs etc.
  12. I must admit he was quite slow to respond to my enquiries but then I wasn't desperate to get mine done.
  13. I contemplated doing it myself but used https://cheapastrophotography.vpweb.co.uk/ I'm pleased I did the camera works perfectly and I'm getting much better results.
  14. Thanks @Laurin Dave & @souls33k3r that's a good idea i Have some thin rubber sheeting I'll cut a couple of strips and give it a try.
  15. Hi all sorry to restart an old thread but I've had my Esprit 100 since last July and have started having issues with it sliding about within it's rings, this is causing issues as I set up each time and if I accidently turn the scope and I'm capturing more data on the same target it's more difficult to get it stacked. @souls33k3r did the new felt solve your problem or did it eventually do the same as the felt became less grippy through use.

    Hi

Hi Ryan and welcome to the forum. For a start you will soon realise that this hobby can become very expensive, to avoid making too many early mistakes everyone on here will usually recommend the following book to read https://www.firstlightoptics.com/books/making-every-photon-count-steve-richards.html It will teach you about the hobby in a fairly easy to understand way, you can then decide what sort of astrophotography you would like to do, planetry, nebulas, galaxies etc. then you can tailor your kit towards that. Good Luck as you have a lot to learn. Mark
  17. Have you tried adding a bit of weight on the scope end, I have seen pictures of bolts with loads of washers attatched to dovetail bars.
  18. Thanks @wimvb I think so too the Optolong image was very red. and I was surprised how much detail I got for such a little amount of data in this one. @MarkAR I agree it is a nice contrast thank you. I'm new to PI and have been watching loads of YouTube videos and after watching one I extracted the luminance from the RGB image gave it a small stretch and added it back in, it's certainly improved the contrast.
  19. I recently posted a picture of B33 using my Optolong L-Enhance filter which was not too bad, a bit red, for my first time trying out Pixinsight. Last night I managed to get nearly 2 hours using my IDAS D2 LPS filter and after watching many Youtube videos I've managed to get the following using my Esprit 100ED and modded canon 450D, 21*300s Lights, flats, darks and bias frames. I think I'm starting to get my head around post processing.
  20. @wimvb Thanks and I believe you are right about the filter, hopefully we will get a clear night soon when the moon is out of the way and I can get some subs with my LP filter and then combine the two. Something else to learn, onwards and upwards with this hobby.
  21. This is my first image using my Optolong L-Enhance dual band filter and the free version of Pixinsight, which does certainly take a lot of time to learn. I know it's not going to win any prizes but I'm quite pleased with it. Especially after all the time it's taken me to produce Master Darks, bias and flats today, luckily the weather has meant I've been stuck indoors most of the day. This is with my Esprit 100ED, Canon 450D, 24 * 300s Lights, 100 flats, 100 Bias & 30 darks. I do struggle with post processing as I'm not very artistic, so all advice on where to go forward with this will be appreciated. I am hoping to get some more subs with my LP filter to add to it.
  22. @nova2000 if it's just astrophotography you want it for then you can discount the AZ-EQ6. The EQ6R-Pro is "Synchronous Belt Driven for reduced backlash, smoother operation and better results when guiding" as per their website. I have one and it works for me, there's a thread on here for owners of it. In the end everyone will have their own opinion on which you should get but it's up to you really on how much you want to spend.
