  1. @Kev25 welcome to SGL and enjoy the new scope when it arrives. Reading some of the responses it looks like I drive past a few members on my way to work in Nottingham. 👍
  2. Unfortunately I keep looking at it and I'm going broke 😟
  3. @Griersonif you take a look at this you can get a bracket for the Esprit https://www.firstlightoptics.com/zwo-accessories/zwo-eaf-bracket-for-takahashi-sky-watcher-esprit-vixen-vc200l.html
  4. @Moonshed whilst I agree with the first 2, I can't comment on 3 as I use Sharpcap for my polar alignment, it's a lot cheaper as it uses the guidescope/camera, and works very well, I also use it for planetary imaging (not very successfully). I also use APT for my DSO imaging, I just love the way it works and controls all my equipment via Ascom. The Goto++ application works perfectly once you have all the correct settings and platesolving software configured. I did struggle with autofocussing to start with but after a few pointers on it's forum I soon had it working. I would also like to add to number 1 if I may, an additional laptop/PC with RDC/Teamviewer, so once all setup I can sit inside in the warm and keep an eye on it remotely 😀
  5. I'd be interested in your results as I'm forever managing to crease my bits of paper, it doesn't go to waste though as I have 3 young granddaughters that like to paint 👍
  6. @BrendanC I use a couple of sheets of white A4 paper between my cheap panel and the scope, I also turn it 90deg half way through taking the flats, it seems to work ok.
  7. @AndyThilo they do look a bit regular to me so would point towards a mechanical issue.
  8. Thanks for the heads-up @fifeskies it will be a nice stocking filler for my 4 year old granddaughter who can name all the planets and can point out Mars and Jupiter to me when I pop round.
  9. @CedricTheBrave it doesn'y have encoders.
  10. @KEJ thanks for the 1st review, I'm awaiting delivery of mine, I hope it comes before Monday as it's threatening to be clear here.
  11. @JohnTobbs welcome to SGL, we visited some of my wife's relatives in Toronto many years ago what a lovely city.
  12. I never got a certificate with my 100ED from @FLO but I'm not bothered it's a great scope. ES Reid is well respected and there is no mention on the website that a certificate will be supplied just that it will be bench tested.
  13. Hi Paul welcome to SGL, nice picture of the moon. Many people use DSLR's and the dedicated lenses for them very successfully, so you are already in a good position. You have come to the right place for some good advice.
  14. @Adreneline nice picture, where did you get the pulley/belt for your EAF from?
  15. Best thing to do if you're not sure is to slew to Alberio first as that will have gone past the meridian and will move the scope to the other side of the mount. Then tell it to slew to your target and it should stay that side.
  16. In the status window on the left there's a meridian flip clock that tells you when it will do an autoflip.
  17. @smrAPT has a tool called session craft, if you check the user guide and set it up correctly APT will do it all automatically for you. Also if you alter the mount limits in EQMOD a bit and enable them again, it won't stop tracking too soon but if anything goes wrong at least your camera won't hit the tripod.
  18. @billhinge please let us know if it's a big improvement as I must admit the stock one isn't brilliant. The first time I put my new Esprit on it and thought I'd fully tightened it, I then turned around to pick something up when I heard a strange sound, which turned out to be the scope gradually sliding down out of the saddle. It's a good job I hadn't gone inside to get something or I'd have had a smashed scope. I'm now using an ADM dovetail bar which is slightly wider but I'm still very wary and make certain it is tightened.
  19. @Greg Shaw why not get a quality one with your refund https://www.firstlightoptics.com/lindy/lindy-cromo-usb20-a-to-b-cable.html
  20. @Tayson very nice image, did you really do 200 minute subs in Ha?
  21. @kookoo_gr your backlash results look exactly like mine.
  22. Hi Andrew, welcome back, you won't have missed much as it seems like it's been mostly cloudy for the last 5 years ☁️
