I got the opportunity to buy a GSO 10" deluxe, hardly used, for a bargain price. I´m aware the step  from 8" to 10" is very subtle, but it was interesting to do a side by side comparison before I give away (more correctly trade it with some non astronomical stuff)

Skipping the physical  differences (there are a few), The 10" was very subtle, but still noticable better than the 8" on most galaxies.

Especially on : NGC3628 (leo triplet), the whale and crowbar galaxy, and if I remember correctly the silver streak galaxy. 

As expected: The 10" was far superior on globular clusters (M3, M5)

Enjoyable read. Good luck with the rest of the Messiers. This list is of course  impossible to complete from my location 59 degrees north.

I`m spending the current moon- (and cloud) less nights nights doing a side by side comparison between my 8" and 'new' 10" dob. Your dobsonian looks very nice indeed, frosty or not.

Doing this should give you some "extra" inward travel...

May I suggest you leave the tube ~1cm from fully extended, when using the barlow. You might achieve focus then.

Try it using 25mm barlowed.

Agree, although it looks like the weight will be around 1kg. Thats ES20/ Ethos 21 wieght class, and almost 3 times the weight of the Baader zoom.

On their  "captured by Stellina" image gallery esp.  Orion Nebula, theres clearly diffraction spikes on the stars?

I find this and eVscope (discussed in an earlier thread) quite fascinating.

Reviews of these Products will be very interesting

I did take notes of all of my observations in 2014. Especially  Saturn, Mars and Jupiter sessions.

All I do now is to keep a log of how many galaxies I`ve seen.

I would really like to post reports of my interesing observations  here in SGL,

but English isnt my first Language, writing a report takes hours, and  unfortunately, the very few Ive written obviously ends up as a rather uninteresting read.

So I`ll  leave posting reports to the experts, and instead enjoy Reading those reports .

But Ill definetly keep logging those faint fuzzies.

Okay. This wont win any prices, but maybe interesting to see the difference in scale between Our Moon and Saturn, same Scope and eyepiece focal length.

Both Objects : Afocal, Samsung S4, Moon and Saturn through 8" manual dob, Hyperion zoom at 24mm (For visual use it gives 50x). Taken same night.

I Guess it is needless to say the images are totally unprocessed whatsoever.

I`ve read your previous posts (What can I expect to see, and  Mars observing the red planet) so many times already. They`ve been highly informative and

have definitely helped me become a better observer. And here you provide us with another brilliant post.

I doubt I`ll ever go beyond novice status when it comes to astronomy and stargazing, but believe me, your posts are so incredibly helpful for me.

But now I`m positive that I saw the northern polar cap with my Orion XT8i  night of april 9th ( upside down image still confuses me and my memory a bit, sketching might not be such a bad idea..)

1. If I was walking by foot on Mars, I would not see when I 'entered' Syrtis Major?

2. April 2014 : Mars is in an 'aphelic' opposition, it will be perihelic opposition in 2016?

3. Is it summer in the northern hemisphere right now?

Cant even imagine the amount of time youve spend making this post. Its custom made for novice people like me. 

The solar system section including Mars, Jupiter and Saturn is spot on; you`ve helped me becoming a better observer and I thank you.
