  1. Sorry for the late comment, but these images are quite spectacular! Rune
  2. Pretty amazing image with the Moon maiden emerging from the shadows and a hint of the Alpine Valley Rille 👍 Rune
  3. I got the opportunity to buy a GSO 10" deluxe, hardly used, for a bargain price. I´m aware the step from 8" to 10" is very subtle, but it was interesting to do a side by side comparison before I give away (more correctly trade it with some non astronomical stuff) Skipping the physical differences (there are a few), The 10" was very subtle, but still noticable better than the 8" on most galaxies. Especially on : NGC3628 (leo triplet), the whale and crowbar galaxy, and if I remember correctly the silver streak galaxy. As expected: The 10" was far superior on globular clusters (M3, M5) Rune
  4. Enjoyable read. Good luck with the rest of the Messiers. This list is of course impossible to complete from my location 59 degrees north. I`m spending the current moon- (and cloud) less nights nights doing a side by side comparison between my 8" and 'new' 10" dob. Your dobsonian looks very nice indeed, frosty or not. Rune
  5. May I suggest you leave the tube ~1cm from fully extended, when using the barlow. You might achieve focus then. Try it using 25mm barlowed. Rune
  6. Hopefully you are right. Just have to wait and see
  7. Agree, although it looks like the weight will be around 1kg. Thats ES20/ Ethos 21 wieght class, and almost 3 times the weight of the Baader zoom. Rune
  8. Highly enjoyable read, while, again, learning something new. Rune
  9. Heia og velkommen fra meg, bosatt på vestlandet ?. Promising weather for the Next period of days. Hope youll get some use of Your telescope before the Bright summer Nights kicks in. Rune
  10. Unless these images arent from the Stellina at all ...
  11. On their "captured by Stellina" image gallery esp. Orion Nebula, theres clearly diffraction spikes on the stars?
  12. I find this and eVscope (discussed in an earlier thread) quite fascinating. Reviews of these Products will be very interesting
  13. I did take notes of all of my observations in 2014. Especially Saturn, Mars and Jupiter sessions. All I do now is to keep a log of how many galaxies I`ve seen. I would really like to post reports of my interesing observations here in SGL, but English isnt my first Language, writing a report takes hours, and unfortunately, the very few Ive written obviously ends up as a rather uninteresting read. So I`ll leave posting reports to the experts, and instead enjoy Reading those reports . But Ill definetly keep logging those faint fuzzies.
  14. This is just lovely. You even got endcaps for the Docter
  15. David Ratledges: Observing asterisms. A Collection of Nice small asterisms With descriptions and images.
  16. Arrived May 10th, along With a Omega/DGM NPB filter. No need to say I`m still waiting for first light. Rune
  17. What can I say, Your sketching is just brilliant! Rune
  18. Very Nice indeed. I managed to manually track ISS With an 8" dob, for maybe 30-40 secs. Not at all easy even With low Power. Rune
  19. Okay. This wont win any prices, but maybe interesting to see the difference in scale between Our Moon and Saturn, same Scope and eyepiece focal length. Both Objects : Afocal, Samsung S4, Moon and Saturn through 8" manual dob, Hyperion zoom at 24mm (For visual use it gives 50x). Taken same night. I Guess it is needless to say the images are totally unprocessed whatsoever.
  20. I`ve read your previous posts (What can I expect to see, and Mars observing the red planet) so many times already. They`ve been highly informative and have definitely helped me become a better observer. And here you provide us with another brilliant post. I doubt I`ll ever go beyond novice status when it comes to astronomy and stargazing, but believe me, your posts are so incredibly helpful for me. Thank you ever so much Qualia. Truly amazing. Rune
  21. Well. You`ve sold 7 telescopes in just about four years, thats not bad at all ;-) . May I ask what your opinion is regarding the ES 20mm 100 degree? Rune

    Enthusiasm

Bit late commenting, but this was a nice read. Brings back childhood memories; not so good binoculars, fabulous Pleiades... Thanks for sharing. Rune
  23. Heya John. Happy new year and a warm welcome from cloudy Norway . Rune

    New Eyepiece

Hope youll be happy with the baader zoom. As you might know already : the 24mm end of the zoom hasnt got the biggest fov, but I have enjoyed the zoom with both my scopes ( f5 and f5,9), but then again really I dont look for flaws at all. Not having to change eyepieces suits me just fine. If you like the zoom and find it comfortable to use, I would recommend you to buy the Baader 2.25x barlow. This will give you up to 183x on your scope, which is great for Lunar observing, and 130-180x will be great for Jupiter and Saturn. Good luck Rune
