  1. Dew can occur quite quickly even on the primary and more on the secondary, fit a brushless pc fan on the rear end to either blow air up the tube or a fan to draw air down and have a secondary mirror heater, as I find that dew forms quickly on even my primary without the fan running and normally any dew% above 95% on the scale has a massive effect in ruining any images I get. but it's part of the newt learning process. my sct suffers even more than that tho. 2. Hi could be some condensation trapped somewhere it just needs a bit even difficult to see on a newt and M45 is very bright on the main stars? don't think the CC is quite right yet needs a bit of fine tuning, I have a f3,9 newt and I found it a hard learning curve to get everything adjusted right. could be something in the cam or just some issue with the sensor cleanliness. check it out and see? ton
  3. Hi, give SX a shout as to see if they can fix it as the original LS is still a capable guidecam, I have the LS2 and that is very similar in spec to the earlier one, but the qhy5-ii mono has a good rep and I have used on before. any help ton
  4. Yep slightly oversaturated as has been said, and M45 is the best image you even caught the nebula on the lower right as well so that bodes well for your AP future. I would be pretty happy with M45 and using a DSLR. well done! Ton
  5. Hi orion telescops has some very similar as well, must be a load coming out of china now.
  6. Hi, this is from ABS link about some new cams from ES, I think these are the same or very similar to touptek science cams and meade dsi mk4 which has a Panasonic and not a sony sensor? https://www.telescopehouse.com/
  7. Hi well done sir! one of the best images of m33 I have seen, hope I get my attempt like this. Ton
  8. Hi, just this from the other night and had to wait until about 4am and dodge the early morning jets/dew near the horizon etc, dew was 94% just about manageable so not bad just needs some more subs and will try the idas NB1 filter next which should give a better contrast? enjoy, when converting from tiff to png or jpeg I lose the colour balance just have to make the tiff's more rich in colour I guess. any comments welcome and heeded. Ton
  9. Hi very nice image and depth, I really like the spikes even tho we know that it is false effect, keep posting your lovely images, well done sir!
  10. Yes of course, my setup is not perfect, QHY10 with TS drawer system then SX OAG/ lodestar x2 mono (binned) x2 in use and ES CC on a F3.9 carbon newt with custom spider as the original spider is rubbish. here is some pics of my setup and that it helps to bin the guidecam if possible, not all can do that so best get one that can be binned, means more stars are available to choose and just needs to be setup to focus in union and it calibrates in 1/10th of the time it took me with a separate guidescope. it helps a lot if the OAG is put before any filters esp anything other than a LP type filter. some images of my setup which are a bit dark.
  11. Hi, yes I knew as soon as I wrote that it would be open to all sorts of misunderstandings lol! but AP for me is still a difficult exercise, but unless you're endowed with vast amounts of money, part of the fun is to make what ever gear you have work for you, my main imaging boost came with getting an OAG, although that won't work for everybody, keep posting stuff that we can comment on.ton
  12. Hi it's not that bad, you might had some haze come over just for a time, check your frames. just wait for the winter nights with their clarity.
  13. Hi very nice definition, I would be pleased with that considering that you might have had some wind that night. well done sir!
  14. Hi many thanks for your explanation, as the printed info differed from the website info I was a bit dubious with the setting but and have set it to 104mm (ish) and will try it and see, but this barlow does have a good rep. many thanks.
  15. Hi, not having tried this yet, the APM 2.7 coma barlow is stated to have a back focus of 112mm from the shoulder of the element? but in the paperwork I got with it is stated 104.1 mm from the shoulder of the element. have I got the wrong printed info? all the other info states 112mm so I presume that is correct? or is this barlow able to adjust to smaller sensors and you would have to adjust the spacing? obviously you can adjust the spacing to suit sensors ccd etc. not important as I will try and test later if I can.
  16. Hi all, this is the setup I think will work with a SX OAG from my filter wheel and a TS drawer system with the CC and QHY10, just got enough ccd clearance now set at 52mm (should be 55mm) gives me a bit of adjustment, just need to test it now I hope it works ok with the CC close to the OAG mirror. QHY10 has 20mm nose projection and that should be a maximum distance on most cams?. clear skies.
  17. Yes I have been following your postings of images, all very good they are, that image is what no of subs etc filters etc, unless my browser won't display the small print, it is IE so not the best.
  18. Yes, it's the opticstar version but they are the same as I took the primary off and is was written in pencil on the backside "PN208" ES/18, is it a good scope then? seems pretty good so far, I just got rid of the stupid secondary collimation crap and fitted it back with the same secondary mirror with a custom spider arrangement and now it stays in collimation for months even when I move it off and around the place. just need some clear skies to test it out now. ton
  19. Hi thanks for the quick response, I may have read the specs wrong on the ES CC as it stated that reduction factor was 1.06 percent is it? so 6% would make sense then, I'm using a lodestar x2 mono and it should be binned but I will check. thanks ton
  20. Hi, not sure if this is an issue for PHD2, but my ES coma corrector increases the focal length of my newt by 0.6 percent? is it % or some other measurement? My scope has 812mm focal length, I'm not sure about the maths when putting in the specs when using an OAG and how much increase in FL do I put into the PHD2 specs. is there an equation to determine that or will PHD2 behave ok without the updated FL. ton
  21. Hi, make sure everything is square to the secondary, I had something very similar with the ES CC, I slight tilt across the whole face of the CC, it might be the primary collimation out, easy to check it. although it looks like a diagonal tilt somewhere? also check any spacers or adapters you have fitted. Ton
  22. Hi All, I finally made up my mind and pulled the trigger on this combo, IDAS NGS-1 and IDAS NB-1 which I can use as a combo or single on some objects. this is the new version which replaces the V4 type I think? Hopefully I could also use these as special luminance and add these to RGB maybe. clear skies.
  23. Yes very nice image, I can't get that good yet, this and ngc891 are my favourite edge-on objects. well done sir! ton
  24. Yep that's just nice!, stars have a small halo esp on the brighter ones, but I would be proud of that image and put it as screen saver on my PC. well done. Ton
  25. Sorry for some reason I can't edit the previous post, just copy and paste that link into your browser. tony
