  1. Hi Simone, there's an established astronomy society in Reading if that's any help, found here: https://readingastro.org.uk/, also, not sure about the provenance of this one: http://www.astronomyclubs.co.uk/Clubs/Details.aspx?ClubId=305 Good luck and clear skies!
  2. Very nice Dave, well done!
  3. Hi Dave, I have the 3.2 StarGuider and use it in my C100ED in particular on the Moon and find it very satisfying, no light scatter etc, I haven't tried it on double stars though as I use my Nagler zoom for that. I do not believe you will be disappointed, it's good for the Moon but not much else in my humble opinion.
  4. Hi Mark and a warm welcome to SGL. I buy many meteorites from Poland - Alan Muzur in Lanckorona. Good luck and clear skies!
  5. I have seen these on eBay a number of times, a set of 20 can be priced as much as €300, so you may have a bargain there!
  6. No filters will help you with galaxies and globular clusters, I am afraid, you just need clear skies.
  7. Hi Joseph, Katherine, Chancellor and Duke, a warm welcome to SGL, what a great introduction you have written! Good luck & clear skies!
  8. Hi there, I would go with the AZ5 deluxe, an absolutely solid combination, here is a picture of the one I bought my wife (focuser upgraded to a crayford, 2" diagonal added, the synta finder shoe is also added), you will find the included 1.25" diagonal disappointing, it is plastic and very cheaply made, unlike the rest of the scope:
  9. Hi Emlyn, welcome to SGL, I am just down the road from you. Good luck & clear skies!
  10. The Sky Watcher Panaviews now come under a new branding - OVL, found here: https://www.firstlightoptics.com/ovl-eyepieces/panaview-2-eyepieces.html The SW 32mm was my first ever purchase for my 200P and I can recommend it, a bit soft on the edges at f/5 but stunning on-axis views.
  11. Hi there, a warm welcome from me too. Good luck and clear skies!
  12. Make sure you buy 'observing' filters, not AP ones, I would also recommend Lumicon filters, available from the US, an OIII and a UHC would be useful.
  13. That was probably the MC2 shop where I bought our first telescope. however, FLO, the forum sponsor must be closer to you in Exeter? Welcome to the forum BTW, good luck & clear skies!
  14. Like Pete above, in the absence of S & T pocket atlas, my go-to is also the Cambridge Star Atlas, thoroughly recommended!
  15. Hi Steve, have you considered Lumicon at all, I don't know the techy details but find my 2" version perfectly adequate.
  16. Hi Alex and a warm welcome from me. Good luck & clear skies!
  17. A warm welcome from me too. Good luck & clear skies!
  18. Hi Martyn and a warm welcome from me too way down south. Good luck & clear skies!
  19. Hi and welcome from me too from a cloudy UK. Good luck & clear skies!
  20. They usually arrive well collimated, so I should leave well alone until you have had chance to use it. A great scope BTW, good luck!
  21. Hi Joebob and a warm welcome from me just down the road. Good luck & clear skies!
  22. Hi there, and a warm welcome from me too. Good luck & clear skies!
  23. That's true, but my wife is always moving the scope complete with tripod etc in and out of doors and her setup was top heavy with the pillar, so it all depends what you find most comfortable, we are both of the older generation so we go very careful with how we manage our scopes.
  24. Hi Dave, that looks right, however, I never use a pillar as this tends to affect the balance of the setup. In my picture above the smaller scope on an AZ5 mount (my wife's scope) came with a pillar, but we decided that it was too unsteady and set the mount straight on the tripod. The SktTee II is heavy so I would presume you would set this straight on the tripod, as my Newt is on the original EQ5 tripod.
