  1. Hi everyone....i do hope that you are all ok during this heatwave!

So, I took this image of the moon rising last week over bristol. I have a mid priced sony bridge camera, which in the main i love, but for some reason when i zoom right out, this image gets pixelated (if this is what it is). mid range and closeup....no problems, but at the high end zoom range, this! anyhow, i was wondering if anti noise software, such as noise ninja might smooth things out a little (assuming Noise ninja is still available....if not then can someone kindly advise me as to what might improve things.....i currently have photoshop elements and pixinsight).

Anyhow, hoping very much that someone can help?

    Kind regards

    Bob

Such a thing is quite difficult. What I would try is find an area in the photo which has a similar background feature, you have two free archways on that side of the building, select and area with rectangular or freehand lasso/marquee selection, copy and paste over the sign area onto a new layer above the original. Then scale/skew until the perspective matches the original layer. You might have to do this a few times until you've completely covered the sign. Then adjust the colours on each until they match, you might have to manually paint or feather the edge of each layer (or apply on a mask layer) so they blend better with the original.

The lit side of the building has the possibility of selecting the whole feature you need to replace, which could be used if you flip mirror the copied area, and can adjust the colours to match the dark side of the building.

Using the clone tool for this will be difficult.

thanx so much Carole and Elp...that is greatly appreciated...will let you know how i get on!

    cheers

  3. Hi everyone...Help needed Please! though not sure if this is the correct place for this thread.

Anyhow, in the bottom left third of this image of Bristol's famous granary building, is a 'to let' sign, and yes you are right, it needs to be gotten rid of!

How can I go about doing this in photoshop elements please? I know very little about cloning or otherwise...

Thanks in anticipation of your guidance....

    cheers,

He should just be able to press the start/stop button to the right of the viewer. It's worth checking that he has not moved the switch to the red 'video' mode. In this setting the start/stop button acts as the control for shooting video on the camera.

There is also a menu option 'Live View Shoot' which has an option of enable and disable. On my 7d mk2 this is in the first set of menus as indicated by the camera icon. If this is set to disable then the start/stop button will have no effect. I assume the same menu option is available in the 7d.

Thanx Shimrod....appreciated Muchos! i shall let my friend know!

    cheers

    Well done.

A difficult subject to pull off successfully but you managed it with "flying colours."  :wink2:
Both subjects are at different distances and finding best focus quite a challenge.
"Infinity" only applies with short focus lenses.

I would have stopped the lens right down [for maximum depth of field] and hoped to avoid camera shake.
Any handy surface can be used to steady the camera if a tripod is not available.
Aligning the wind vane with the moon is not one of those things you can plan in advance.
Lamp posts, sign posts and street furniture can help sometimes.
What are the chances of anything useful coinciding with such an alignment?

Thanks rusted for your reply why yes it was very difficult to frame accurately as the slightest wobble on the tripod would lose the composition also the lighter the sky got the more or I was losing the moon as it was fading fast.

  6. Hi Everyone...Hope you are all keeping well?

Please find attached a picture which I took last year, but which I have only just processed.

A fast setting moon, fading into the early morning light, and a weather vane on Spike Island Bristol.

Much obliged for your posts guys.  I'm thankful that Covid has had no direct influence on my health issues, the wife and I have been careful to observe the behaviour necessary to lesson the risks of contact with this awful virus. Let's hope  we see the end of the nightmare soon.

    Welcome back ron!
