  1. It's much better then mine! (doesn't have any to show! yet!) Keep up the fine work!
  2. I just got it and am taking in the section on processing images. Good stuff! Maybe I post a follow up.
  3. Hello, Guten Tag, I know SGL is mainly UK based however there's a few mainlanders here and I was wondering who from this community was planning on attending the ITV , Internationales Teleskoptreffen - Vogelsberg http://www.teleskoptreffen.de/itv.html (in German language, but if it's international you'd think they'd drop an English language version of the page). It's an hour or so north of Frankfurt, Germany and I would like to seek contacts here but will of course check the German-based forums for such. I would have gone last year but it was pretty cloudy all four days. I'm crossing my fingers
  4. So I turned the focuser assembly and found more potential mount screws but it looks like it's going to be a tight fit and I have to suitable screws as the present ones seem useless.
  5. Nope. The two tiny screws that would work, running North and South, at the bottom of the pic, are just threaded plugs. I don't see where else to attach it.
  6. Ah man... Too easy! I had it... in the box the RACI came in... the small size of the screws on the 70ED threw me off... Ach du lieber Zeit :S
  7. Hello Dear SGL Friends, I've got ideas on attaching this RACI + SSAG to my 70ED; one is with a lot of zip ties. I would prefer a more solid solution. Many thanks!
  8. Hey Sgl, How about an "official" annual edition of a SGL newcomer FAQ and guide covering observation and AP.
  9. I know the gold standard is, "Making Every Photon Count," http://www.firstlightoptics.com/books/making-every-photon-count-steve-richards.html but has anyone given this other starter a try? "Shooting Stars" by Nik Szymanek I haven't seen any reviews... http://www.astronomynow-store.com/special-editions/shooting-stars-the-ultimate-guide-to-photographing-the-universe Me? I've been subsisting on Allen Hall's "Getting Started" Long Exposure Astrophotography" http://www.allans-stuff.com/leap/
  10. I've seen fancy adapters http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NTUyWDY5MA==/z/8LsAAOSw7NNUL6zx/$_1.JPG?set_id=880000500F and this http://lightvortexastronomy.blogspot.de/2013/03/tutorial-imaging-setting-up-orion.html but am holding out for the simplest solution.
  11. Hello Again My Friends, I got an easy one for you guys and gals today: So close and yet so far... Thanks! John
  12. Hello All, I'm piecing together what I'll need to control my AVX mount for imaging and it's a bit overwhelming. EQMOD, Astrotortilla, ByEOS, Cart du Ciel, Stellarium, did leave any out, OH MY! I'm wondering if anyone would be so kind as to suggest their favorite or best ideas for which softwares to use AND specific setup recommendations, tips. I've got about all the hardware: Avx + 50mm Guide scope + Orion SSAG 70ED f6 refractor + canon 1000d Cables to connect HC to laptop and more... I'm all ears and many thanks in advance, John
