  1. Glad to hear it's not only me who suffers from this I also suffer from obsessive telescope swapping disease. When you combine both diseases in one session it can cause your head to explode!
  2. Nice set, Mike. I strongly suspect I will do a similar thing once I settle into which scope and eyepieces I enjoy using the most.
  3. I have owned a pair of Celestron 25x70 Skymaster for a couple of years and have struggled to get on with them as the image is far too wobbly. I recently read this and other threads on binoculars and realised that 25x70 is simply too high mag for a steady hand-held image so have bought myself a pair of Pentax 8x40 PCF WP II. These look to be very well made and the image is much, much clearer and steadier than the Celestrons.
  4. Here are some better pictures of the Explore Scientific EPs from my case... In this one the 82° set are on the bottom row... I have to agree with the others, that is a mightlily impressive set of EP's you have there, quaoar
  5. The bottom set is my new Explore Scientific 82° 4.7mm to 14mm and 68° 20mm & 24mm with a 2x Focal Extender lying horizontally across the middle of the case. I bought these after selling my TV Plossls as I prefer the size of the ES's and also their larger eye lenses and (for me) more comfortabe eye relief across the range. I'm very impressed with the build quality of these EPs and looking forward to some clear skys to give them a good workout.
  6. I think I am done buying EPs for quite some time
  7. Excellent, and very similar to my own first experience of looking for Andromeda about a year ago. The next time I can't find something I might try the sneeze on the window pane method to save time
  8. I'm rubbish at this game - I just pulled the trigger on an Explore Scientific 82° N2 4.7mm. I'm off to the Caribbean in a couple of weeks from now with my C6 and wanted something decent in the case for high power in case the skies are fabulously dark. Well, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it If this works out I might have a few TV Plossls for sale in a few weeks from now to fund more of the ES N2's.
  9. Thanks for the info - on balance I think the 3-6mm TV Zoom is the way to go in view of what I already have.
  10. Woosh! Just like that another £600 jumped out of the bank account 6-3 zoom is on the wish list and i think I could live without the 9mm and 7mm. Haven't managed to track down a second hand zoom yet but I'm sure one will pop up one day.
  11. I have only just twigged that the "BGOs" that you speak of are not made by TeleVue, despite being black and green. Are these Baader Genuine Orthotics, and if so, how do they differ from the current crop which have white branding instead of green? I am looking for some higher power and my current highest is the 8mm TV Plossl - do these come in shorter focal lengths than that?
  12. Your ex-17mm is locked away in my case and you ain't getting it back
  13. Not quite. The 55mm still eludes me - that said, I'm not sure it would give me anything I don't already get from the Nag 31mm (apart from an unusable 16mm exit pupil in my 12" Dob!). There are quite a few TV Plossls available at a good price on Ebay at the moment ;-)
  14. A few additions to the Plossl case... I was surprised at the size of the TV Barlows. Looking forward to trying them out if the cloud ever clears!
  15. I have made a vow never to buy another eyepiece ever again. But if anyone has a TV 32mm Plossl or a Nagler 3-6mm Zoom for sale I might be willing to compromise my legendary self-control
  16. You and me both! Very nice case, Joe. There is no point stressing about what comes next so long as the current crop look orderly. But I have found that policy becomes very expensive when it comes to buying replacement foam every time an EP arrives or departs!
  17. Excellent, Rik. Go to the top of the class. I hope Stu is watching.
  18. You're getting there. Now all you have to do is move the VIP up one row of foam so that it is in line with the Lecia and we can all sleep soundly. You know it makes sense
  19. Excellent, Mike, well done {I'm desperately trying to ignore the random Allen key}
  20. Good man. I've been up all night pacing up and down the garden wondering what to do
