  1. Probably my last capture of the year last night. Managed to grab about 1.5 hours worth of IC443 before it became obstructed. Stupidly didn't check the gain setting though (I'd been playing with Video settings on the ASIair when I was sorting the focuser. Doh! That meant I had lights captured at a gain of 390. Couldn't calibrate out the Amp Glow with 120 Gain Darks so had to do a bit of faffing around in processing. Wasn't too bad by the time I had merged the 4 individual panes of both Ha and Oiii then recombining as HOO in Astro Pixel Processor but had to play around with the bottom of the frame and sacrifice some of the left side through cropping. Would have been nice to end with a nice clean capture though. 2. As the weather is definitely not playing at the moment, I thought I'd go back to this one and reprocess from scratch, trying out a few things I've settled on in my workflow and using some of the new software such as Noise and StarXterminator. Integrated as HOO in Astro Pixel Processor and manually combined in Photoshop CC. Skywatcher 80ED Pro (Gold) ASI294mc pro -10C unity gan Optolong -eNhance EQ6-R Pro ASIair Pro Tony
  3. I image from my third floor balcony as I live in an apartment complex that used to be a Malt Warehouse. The skies are officially Bortle 4 but the balcony overlooks the block car park and obviously has a lot of local light pollution from the surrounding buildings. The rig is permanently outdoors, protected by a Telegizmos 365 cover, which does a great job. I have installed a weatherproof mains outlet on the outside and have a bench transformer in a weatherproof box. It’s basically a balcony observatory that can up and running within 5 minutes.
  4. Cheers Olly. I’ve had a couple of disappointing nights lately with high cloud ruining things, but last night, everything came good.
  5. 29 x 300s capture with WO Redcat 51 and ASI294mc pro using l-eNhance filter. Extracted Ha and Oiii channels in APP and manually combined using Photoshop. Tony

  7. Managed to grab the better part of three hours in 180s subs on this last night, as it was the target most likely to give me a decent window of capture. Integrated first as Ha-Oiii Colour then a second image integrated as separate Ha and Oiii extracts before combining as HOO in Astro Pixel Processor. Light pollution cleanup and star colour calibration done in APP. Processing done in Photoshop CC. 51 (of 60) x 180s Skywatcher 80ED Pro with Redcat 51 guiding. 8. Managed to grab a meagre couple of hours over two panes last night. Combined these two frames with a previous test capture of about 30 mins. Processed each pane as Ha and Oiii and then combined each as a separate HOO before combining as a mosaic in Astro Pixel Processor. Then cleanup up and processed Star Layer and Nebula Layer before merging back using Photoshop CC. Quite pleased with this given the short integration (and complete lack of clear nights lately). Hopefully will add to this if we get a few more clear nights, while it's still accessible to me from the balcony. SW 80ED ASI294mc pro Optolong l-eNhance ASIair pro EQ6-R Pro Tony
  9. Decided it would be worth having another go at this, using new tricks and being much more selective of the lights. Ended up using 80 of the 134 lights, nearly all of which were 300s. 10. Was planning on getting a couple of hours with the Samyang 135 on this target last night but only managed just shy of an hour, so I thought..... Why not integrate it with the mosaic from the Redcat 51? So that's what this is, or rather a strategically cropped product of. Integrated as mosaic in APP Processed in Photoshop CC Tony
  11. Nice! 😊 it was a four pane mosaic using Redcat 51, ASI294mc pro OSC and approx 1 hour for each pane.
  12. I seem to have been pulled over to The Dark Side πŸ™‚ Having a stab at doing a mosaic of Taurus Molecular Cloud. It's been a bumpy ride so far. I've had to learn how to integrate mosaics more efficiently using APP (basically using panes, then registering/integrating). Still making it up as I go along as far as processing is concerned but I'm enjoying being made to look a fool by this new processing challenge. 🀣 A crop from a 4-pane mosaic using WO Redcat 51. Tony
  13. Have managed to acquire and integrate 18.8 Hours worth so far, using new mosaic integration workflow in APP. Still horrible gradients and noise to contend with but I'm pleased with progress and hopefully haven't overdone it? Will hopefully add some better quality data and replace some of the panes in the integration now that I know how to do this without having to start from scratch. All data acquired with WO Redcat 15, ASI294mc pro and Optolong l-eNhance filter. Tony
  14. Much happier with this version (I think πŸ™‚ ). Added the original 4 Hour middle pane into the whole. Re-integrated as Ha-OIII Colour in APP. Had to do a lot of playing around with Gradient Xterminator on the starless image. Stretched fairly gently. Also used AstroFlat Pro against the starless image to remove a lot of dark noise before re-merging with star layer. Tony
  15. Thanks Peter, it's certainly a learning experience! πŸ™‚
  16. Thanks Carole! I wasn’t sure but suspected it’s a bit of a beast.
  17. Not really happy with this but it's a start I suppose. This target is a bit of a beast to both capture and process, especially using an OSC setup. Managed to get 2 sessions of around 2.5 hours per pane, so somewhere in the region of 10 hours in total. Will need to get a lot more than that to do this justice though. This one fought me all the way processing-wise. I'm planning on getting some decent flats before I have another go and will be a little less aggressive on the processing next time round. Anyway, here's the story so far.. Integrated as individual Ha and OIII extracts in APP then processed as HOO in Photoshop. Use the ASIair Sky Atlas' mosaic function to plot this and create a Plan.
