  1. Time to update. Never the final itteration!! In : Ethos 21mm and Baader mkIII Zoom (with barlow) Outgoing : ES 82° 24 & 30mm (got to pay for the Ethos) To Get : Delos 10mm or 14mm once funds allow and more BCO's and UHC 2" and HBeta 1.25" then I'm done. Honest. With the arrival of the £££ "Big E", I'm going to have to be ruthless. The 30mm ES gets so little use due to the large exit pupil that it has to go. I have the ED80 that has a massive FOV for the really wide fields. The 24mm ES is lower mag and smaller Fov than the Ethos so sadly has to go. Again, I don't always get great contrast. So I am hoping that the higher mag of the Ethos will enhance the contrast a bit. I'm ashamed to say that I have never looked through the 28mm (completely forgot that I had it). It is light weight and shold pair up with the Zoom in the ED80 as a great travel setup. The zoom is also very good for the solar work with the Lunt wedge. Paul
  2. Oh well. I suppose that I can always sell it on. Incoming !!! I'm very very disapointed with myself. Paul
  3. The 13mm sounds great. Is the Ethos 21mm any good? Paul
  4. Errrr. Wow. This one has actually taken my breath away! Paul
  5. Damn you Shane!!!! I didn't know that the jump from the 12mm Delos to the 17.3mm bothered me until I read your post. Now I am craving the 14mm Delos. We all know the how this will end....... Paul
  6. Lovely bit of kit. Wires everywhere! I would call it "RoboDob". Good luck with the clouds. Paul
  7. I reckon that the ES 82° are rather splendid eyepieces. The 24mm is one of my most used. The is a fair bit of green in my case, but every time that an equivalent(ish) used Nagler comes up I just can't quite bring myself to swap it in.... Paul
  8. Pipnina A Dob needs to cool and be columated. So, yes, no screwing stuff together. But a little Frac on a simple manual mount already assembled is the fastest. I've got an ED80 on a AZ3 which stays up for most of the time. If I has to assemble from scratch, the dob would win hands down. Paul
  9. Hyperions can't be that bad? There are quite a few people on SGL who I would consider very experienced observers without pressing budgetary constraints who use thes
  10. Very nice Kerry I thought that the 30mm was a monster of an eyepiece. But next to the 20mm 100° ........ Paul
  11. Very nice Mike. I'm confused. You mention one more addition, but there is space for three more in the box??? Paul
  12. A Zoom Barlow? Didn't know that they existed! I am assuming that the quality is tip top? You don't fill a case with gourmet glass then screw it up with a mediocre barlow. Paul
  13. Cracking selection Shaun. What scope(s) do you use? And. What is the Barlow for? Paul
  14. Great write up Chops. It is a rare treat to get structured a dispassionate review of three options. It is amazing the difference that spending an extra £10-£30 can make! Paul
  15. Suddenly the case full of Delos is looking a bit over priced....... Bill - Thanks for the indepth review that the reader can enjoy without a PhD in optics! Paul
  16. Ahhhhhhhhh. A master plan! The definitive Telvue shootout thread will run and run. Did you reorder the Delites? If so, do we have a due date? Paul
  17. Derek Why trade down from Delos to Delite? Paul
  18. That cap looks vaugely medical. Should stop the spiders setting up home anyway. Paul
  19. Nice looking scope. Have they changed the top assembly so that the focuser is at a sensible angle rather than the awkward 90° positioning that they used to sport? Paul
  20. Mark A first public outing for the new base? Looks like it should do the job. How is it working and did you save much weight? Paul
  21. I like the drinks holders strapped to the side of the base. Ingenious! Paul
  22. Ok, I have a confession to make. With all the extra little bits and pieces, these go in two cases. That way I have a bit of spare space in the event of an accidental eye piece purchase. Paul
  23. Here is my current final iteration.... The MaxVision 68°s have morphed into a Delos and a couple of 82° ES heavy weights. Paul
  24. These guys have had a bit of stick over the last few weeks so I thought that I would post my recent experience. I ordered a focuser upgrade and a Telrad 07:30 on Friday. It arrived well packaged 10:30 Saturday morning. This was using their standard delivery!! I'll be using them again. Paul
  25. You know that you are at a dark site when the clouds are black rather than lit up by light reflecting off their undersides. Great post Acey. Paul
