  1. Great app I found shows you graphically. Not sure if this app is on android. I am using this on the iphone. https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/gas-giants/id397831483?mt=8 Also shows you where the moons are and their transit shadows. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Canon 1100d, sending it off to be astro modified. Software not sure yet. I think eqmod/ascom for the AstroEQ box and CDC, PHD, AstroTortilla. But not tried any of it yet!! im preparing myself with all the right kit and software first. Want to tighten up the mount gears as theres slack there too. Lots to learn! :P I see you got one from Quatermass and now selling. What CCD would you be planning on?.

nice one with the modding :) ive used BYE and APT and i much prefer the workflow and layout of BYE, its a great program, you will need the premium version tho to use AT with it which is $50, this is the CCD im planning on getting :D http://www.firstlightoptics.com/atik-cameras/atik-314l-efw2-filter-wheel-baader-lrgb-filters-.html

I use APT and loooove it! Much cheaper than BYE also ;)

Regarding the CCD, i think most start with the 314L. I think you need to match the CCD to your scope and what you plan to image ect. They all have pros and cons, most of which i dont understand yet. Theres a great thread on here somewhere about it all though.

  3. Dreaming that my first DSLR Long exposure adventures will go well. Got the kit and software, just need to learn it all. :P

  7. Looks great for first go. I've not attempted anything other than M42 yet. I think you're right a better mount and lots of hours playing with DSS and Pgtoshop will help. There's plenty of tutorials around. Have fun! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Learnt some new techniques in DSS and PS. Quite happy with this result. Although I know there is a few mistakes in this image, minor ones. So next time I will improve on those. I'm rather happy with the natural colours and amount of detail I got out of the subs. They were highly light polluted.
  9. Modding my lifecam and watching processing tutorials. Sleep whats that? :P

Can't sleep, you still have to immediately test the scope+webcam on some buildings, right? That's what I did at the time:]

  15. Great tips James. But you right the conditions out are terrible. So much cloud here and gusty wind. Need to pack up but got good view if full disc through cloud. Could not even zoom in with eyepiece too much cloud oh well. Clouds look here to stay. Maybe another time. Might stack some old subs using your tips instead. Cheers. 17. Guiseppe: nice! Out if interest as it's your first, which method did you use to take flats? I've only managed one stack of subs, darks and bias so far. I'm keen to know how you got on taking flats? I'm rarely able to take any in daylight. So I'm wondering what method works well for my 8" scope. I've heard a white t-shirt and a torch shined at it works well but to me it sounds like it might create unevenness. I'm considering holding my laptop screen up with a white background displayed although that dies not cover the end of the scope fully. So might try and see if it fills the scope with light. Cheers!
