  1. my initial test pic from 26th and this one from yesterday focuser works really well looking forward to the next version of APT with autofocusing.
  2. it works surprisingly well actually
  3. fitting it all together. all positioned up and time to spray the self-tensioning mechanism (*cough* hinge *cough* springs *cough*)
  4. Ordered 2 rolls of flocking a couple of days ago and it just arrived. Best service i've ever had. Only one problem though... I now have no reason to put off drilling more holes in my OTA.
  5. to be able to select a star in the FoV and have APT center it exactly in the crosshairs... I use APT with alignmaster for PA and it would make PA an absolute doddle being able to consistantly (and quickly) center on a star. A bit like astrotortilla but (without the endless extracting and solving) using the crosshairs as a reference to move the mount.
  6. *pokes Ivo with a pointy stick do add a star centering routine to APT*
  7. just tried on Win7 64-bit. still needs manual registration of the dll but it seems ok apart from that
  8. Almost there... and a big thanks to the excellent Mr ChrisLX200 for the timing pulleys, which are a perfect fit
  9. after much hair pulling and leaping about messing with pids, inf files and beating windows xp with a large 'I HATE YOU' stick, i got it working
  10. i'm now in all out war with windows xp which is refusing to install usb2.0-serial drivers i really hate microsoft...
  11. great, i'll try that when i get home... just messing about with a self tensioning bracket (ok, it's a hinge and a spring ) to attach the stepper box to my ota. it'll apply enough tension to the belt without going too far. also means i can whip the belt off at any time for manual focusing just need to hammer the bottom flat plate of the bracket (cough, cough, hinge) into a bit of a curve to sit nicely on the tube.
  12. Ahhh microsoft... trying to be smart but ending up being a pain in the butt...
  13. no joy on 6.1 either well, no rush as i don't have pulleys yet.
  14. oh wait... i'm using ascom 6.0... downloading 6.1 now
  15. tried on 7 and xp, just get this
  16. playing sillybuggers with bipolar motor... still no idea wgat to make with it as the right driver board for my focuser motor is on the way... http://smg.photobucket.com/user/vanityassassin/media/VID_20140627_220926_zpszqjf2vkt.mp4.html
  17. /facepalm... just realised i ordered the wrong controller board... easydriver board is for 4 wire bipolar motors apparently. now, what else can i build with one of the half dozen or so bipolar motors i've salvaged, and an easydriver???
  18. That would be awsome Chris inasmuch as i can do stuff like that, i'm currently pretty much limited to screwdrivers and a 5 pound lump hammer for my choice of tools at the moment
  19. can do, but i'm no expert (it's my first arduino project), really just winging it on this project lol
