  1. haven't had any issues using a 28BYJ-48 12v but my camera isn't that heavy being a modified dSLR, my focuser easily lifts the camera vertically, and yeah daves focuser code works perfectly over bluetooth

Not sure if any of my fellow arduino tinkerers have seen these but WOW!!! have a gander at these specs and the board is about the same size as an arduino nano and that's WITH a 128x64 OLED screen... these things are AWESOME! Processors: CPU: Xtensa dual-core (or single-core) 32-bit LX6 microprocessor, operating at 160 or 240 MHz and performing at up to 600 DMIPS Ultra low power (ULP) co-processor Memory: 520 KiB SRAM Wireless connectivity: Wi-Fi: 802.11 b/g/n Bluetooth: v4.2 BR/EDR and BLE Peripheral interfaces: 12-bit SAR ADC up to 18 channels 2 × 8-bit DACs 10 × touch sensors (capacitive sensing GPIOs) Temperature sensor 4 × SPI 2 × I²S interfaces 2 × I²C interfaces 3 × UART SD/SDIO/CE-ATA/MMC/eMMC host controller SDIO/SPI slave controller Ethernet MAC interface with dedicated DMA and IEEE 1588 Precision Time Protocol support CAN bus 2.0 Infrared remote controller (TX/RX, up to 8 channels) Motor PWM LED PWM (up to 16 channels) Hall effect sensor Ultra low power analog pre-amplifier Security: IEEE 802.11 standard security features all supported, including WFA, WPA/WPA2 and WAPI Secure boot Flash encryption 1024-bit OTP, up to 768-bit for customers Cryptographic hardware acceleration: AES, SHA-2, RSA, elliptic curve cryptography (ECC), random number generator (RNG) Power management: Internal low-dropout regulator Individual power domain for RTC 5uA deep sleep current Wake up from GPIO interrupt, timer, ADC measurements, capacitive touch sensor interrupt got one through the post today and have it connected to my wifi in minutes. there's quite a few form factors but i got this one... and only 12 quid oh, it can also run Python...
  3. ordered a howie glatter laser late last night, it's arriving tomorrow... they answered a query at almost 9:30pm on facebook, almost immediately... now THAT's premium customer service i love you FLO and i want to have your babies ?
  4. just posted this on their facebook. "must say that i'm REALLY disappointed with altair... i've sent messages over facebook and messages through your website since last friday, asking for information. not a single response... now, if what would have been over £2000 in purchases is of no interest to you then fine, so be it. as it is, even though i was really wanting to get one of your 10" truss imaging newtonians, because of your shockingly bad customer service, i'll be taking my money elsewhere."
  5. just stripped and regreased the eq head... there was a bit of slop in it i wasn't happy with. considering how simple the eq head is, it's now rock solid and quite smooth
  6. Nooooooo.... my first refractor there's a 'proper' scope behind it lol
  7. well, the lens wasn't chipped at all... must have been some odd reflection. got it for £170 which may or may not be a bit higher than normal, but i've wanted one of these for years so i really don't care. can't wait for a clear night this is the first frac i've had since i was 7
  8. this kinda puts me off tho... definitely looks like the lens is chipped.
  9. Anyone know the going rate for a tal 100r? Been after one for ages and one on fleabay is reasonably close but starting at £200
  10. Bit of first layer porn... you can almost brush your hair in it
  11. i had a few issues with iffy print quality at first. my M555 is P2 for reprap and now the print quality is brilliant
  12. *correction 'And I know BT HomeHubs are exceptionally crap'
  13. not that i actually need it, but i just got a precision piezo board and a few disks through the post today. did a temporary wiring up the the duet wifi z-probe connector and it triggers properly when i tap the piezo. time to break out sketchup and redesign my extruder carriage. not too keen on the housing from the video as it adds a lot of extra length to the e3d mounting
  14. just don't press the erase button
  15. is it me or is the 'duet club' now a trio?
  16. yeah i usually print on glass with no problem, but, if you don't try these things you'll never know
  17. just on a side note, have a look at Diall Aluminium Tape (i got a roll from B&Q) no kidding, i just put some on my glass bed and i'm getting the best first layers i've ever seen on this printer
  18. once you've tried it... all of them
  19. have you tried herringbone gears? i printed a couple off for lols and they mesh incredibly well.
  20. now that's a novel z-axis have you thought about using high poundage braided fishing line instead of string?
  21. the GP payload is underrated... i've imaged with my 10" newt (12kg all together) on one without any issue. so good in fact that even though my az eq6-gt arrives today, i might just hang on to the GP and stick a 6" F4 on it for wider field stuff.
