  1. Please don't make me laugh, Or maybe the scope is just too cheap for it to be believed.

Attached is a tiff file, just stacked in DSS imported into PS with a very light process and nothing else. Also a unprocessed .fit file converted from ASIFit View to a jpg.

If there was any CA to see it would have definitely shown on Sadr. Slight tilt in corners due to something not tightened properly.

Each sub imaged at 600s ISO800.

    Hi @Skyline

Was that the Celestron C-8N  ??

Funnily enough in the last day or so I was "reflecting" on that scope (Ho! Ho!),  as an 8" F5 is a nice fast focal length for the likes of the Veil, North American Nebulae and the Eagle itself.

I might have to move around the garden to get a good transit arc of a few hours.    Glad to hear it is getting used.

    Sean.

    Yes it is.

  3. Everyone complained when the EVostar 72ED was released, but the images are look really good and its become quite a popular scope to have.

The only thing I have found with WO is guaranteed Bling and from a personal view, their accessories either over priced or you need to fiddle more to get your setup working the way you want.

Time will tell, I can't comment on the blue bloat because I have not experienced it so far.

I have taken images with my Celestron C80ED (about 5years ago) with FPL53 and the EVOLUX62ED both using a DSLR on different occasions, but I do not see any or much difference at all, happy to upload images if that helps?

  4. I know these images are not worthy of Astronomy Picture of the Day, but these images were taken last night with a Modded 600D using the Skywatcher Evolux 62ED. The balance/guiding is slightly out.

The more I image with this scope, the more I am enjoying it and I can see the potential of this scope. I like the star colours how this scope handles, I would love to see some images taken with 82ED to compare how the star colour is handled especially the blue channel. Two images both in Cygnus, NGC6819 and the Sadr Region. The star cluster had 2 hours of data and the Sadr region one hour. Its being a while processing images, quite happy for them to be corrected.

    No calibration files used.

  5. A short update on the scope, my handle arrived a couple of days ago, I was expecting it to be a little beefy, but the offset it is slotted to handle anything else you might want to add onto the scope and it is sturdy.

The star colours look really good on the 62ED, does anyone have a 82ED? We can compare star colour please.

Also I manage to bag a couple of images last night. One of NGC 6819 and the other of the region of Sadr both objects in Cygnus. The star cluster has 2 hours data and the other has only 1 hour. The more I image with this scope the more I am looking forward as Autumn approaches.

  6. An update on the scope, I have now added a lipped 10mm riser, which allows me to push the tube further up the dovetail for better balancing. This leaves around a 3mm clearance between the bottom locking bolt and the dovetail.

The bolts which are to be used are imperial : 1/4"-20 x 1-1/4" or 1" length 304 Stainless Steel Full Thread Hex Socket Head Cap Screw - M6 does not fit.

Also I have designed a bahtinov mask taken into account when used with the dedicated reducer.
