  1. To kick things off, as a new user to Pixinsight I'm curious how people have Pixinsight setup on their computers? Do you have a load of toolbox icons setup for your particular workflow? Any specific things about how you configure Pixinsight to display on your screen? A screenshot would be great

    Save the Date

More details to be announced within the next couple of weeks but, the venue will be Lucksall Caravan Park, Herefordshire and the dates will be: Main Weekend: Friday 1st November - Sunday 3rd November Star Party: Thursday 31st October - Thursday 7th November - for those who want to arrive a bit earlier or stay longer.
  3. The ASIair cannot currently do 'live stacking' but it will certainly display the most recent exposure you have taken with colour if using a OSC camera. I believe 'live stacking' and other EAA features have been requested so hopefully will be added in future updates to the ASIair app - it really is developing extraordinarily quickly and the developers are very responsive and committed to the product.
  4. Not that I know of because the body of the right angled version is significantly shorter to account for the distance taken up by the right angled part and mirror.
  5. It was me you were talking to - we are discussing this among the moderation team. I think I suggested: Video & Live Viewing Astronomy (EAA). This seemed to cover most of the permutations? We are open to changing the name if it broadens the appeal but, we don't want to get caught in some of the infighting that seems to happen with this side of astronomy particularly when it comes down to what to call it.
  6. A close contest for the top spots this time - some beautiful images, thanks everybody for taking part! The Charioteer rides forth! By MartinB Orion over the woods By davew Orion over the Mill By Cjg
  7. Thanks Owen - I will drop you a PM as soon as it's confirmed.
  8. You should be able to post in the SGL star party forum? There isn't one setup for the 2019 SP yet though. Dates / details should be announced early next week. A few of us are visiting Lucksall this weekend to finalise details ? When do you need details by?
  9. I'm the biggest fan of the ASIair, it has totally transformed my astrophotography, my process is now to carry the mount loaded with scope / cameras everything outside, roughly point North and plug it in. From then onwards I do everything through the ASIair on my iPad and it all just works. Gone are the days of messing around with drivers, software etc.. (bearing in mind, I'm a techy and messing around with software is what I do much of the day but when I'm doing astrophotography I want to be capturing photons, not messing with software!) it also makes cabling and power much, much simpler. I think I've done more astrophotography in the past 2-3 weeks largely thanks to the ASIair than I have in the last 2-3 years! It just makes everything so much easier. My experience is based on the combination of GTi mount, EQ6 mount, ASI160MC-Pro, ASI294MC-Pro, ASI178MM and an ASI120 mini.
  10. Had my four port version in action most of last night - four dew straps plugged in plus 12v power to the mount and 12v to the camera cooler, didn't skip a beat ?
  11. Wow - some absolute stonkers this time. A very clear winner but we had a lot of trouble separating 2nd and 3rd PK 104-29.1 a.k.a. Jones 1 and WD 2333+310 By Petergoodhew M1 - same Crab nebula. Hi all!

    Welcome to SGL Vicki
  15. Wow, even better! Thanks Dave ? I have a soft spot for this FOV (can you tell?) - it's on my bucket list to get the whole of Orion into a mosaic with this sort of level of detail.
  16. Very nice - a little hint of the 'flame' as well
  17. Any plans to get the 'arms'? With the level of details and colours in this shot, if you could get the rest of the constellation to add in, that would be mighty impressive...
  18. Awesome field of view - head to tilt my head though, not used to see it at that angle! Beautiful!
