Thanks both of you. Yes, the weather is pretty dire at the moment - karma for the clear run I had when I first got my tracking mount...

I'm looking forward to seeing the results!

Yeah, all fine thanks, although I had been standing under it 5 minutes before it came down to position some buckets and towels. Insurance will take care of it, it's just a pain.

Like you say, at least no one got hurt. All the best with getting sorted.

  3. Pulled the trigger on a new Canon 700D, next step is to get the 1100D astro modified.

  4. Consistently outwitted by squirrels today. They either scamper off at the first sound of my approach or loiter in the Sun like a marauding Messerschmitt.

Are you trying to get rid of or trying to photograph them?

Photograph. ;) A local wood has a huge number of squirrels living in it, must have seen two dozen.

  5. Just made a winning bid on a 200mm Takumar lens. :)

  6. Poor seeing last night, but managed a fun session playing with a new lens and my DIY hot-shoe mounted laser pointer.

      Agreed it was pretty grim!

Not surprising double stars are dominating my observing sessions now. When Andromeda looks like a small spherical smudge what else can we do? :)

  7. I've read the first chapter now. Very well written, and I can tell you've done your homework - some subtle traps missed.
  8. Nice to see you back on the forum Qualia. I'll have a proper read of the above sometime over the next few days.
  9. From the album: General Astro

Quick NGC 7822 Widefield taken with my 135mm Super-Takumar lens on a modded Canon 100D.
  10. Just got back from fantastic skies in Cornwall, the Milky Way was a blaze of light. Images incoming...

  11. Polarscope on order from FLO, hopefully a better polar alignment will help me use my longer lenses on my EQ3-2.

      Alien 13

It sure will can be a bit fiddly to get the initial alignment done but there are plenty of guides. Good to see a fellow EQ3-2 user on here.

  12. Saw five shooting stars last night while out imaging.

      They are a great sight,

I remember one shooting across the FOV in my binoculars and I managed to react well enough to follow it as it faded. It left a nice dark purple blue smoky tail that took quite a while (10-15 seconds) to fade away into black. Keep up the imaging !

I saw one too. Nice bright with a good tail. Moving N to S. Ish. Around 11.30

  13. BBC News have published my picture of noctilucent clouds on their website. :) http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-28211909

  14. I really should browse the imaging forums more often, wonderful images.

  15. That's looking really good thanks, bookmarked. Very handy to have the moonrise/set times right alongside the forecast. ISS passes are another nice touch. I'll add a link to it from the Caradon Observatory site.
  16. EQ3-2 & RA have arrived! Have bolted on the motor and all seems to be working fine.

Well, I was aiming for M51 but got M101 by mistake! It's dinky, 5 mins in total with my 50mm lens, but it's clearly a spiral. :-)

      tingting44
