The views through the 22" are amazing I have had the good fortune to see M51 through it it was fantastic.

M51 at the spring GSP is something else when it's high in the sky. Never forget seeing it on the Sunday night when just me and Mike ( demonbarber) were left. Best I've ever seen it and I'm sure Mike would agree.

Damien.  Ian . Kelvin.  Derek.  From sgl. And a special ty to damien for the wee session with his 20" dobsonian enjoyed ever minute.  Cant wait to see u all again autumn 22.

Cheers James it was a pleasure giving a tour of the dark galloway skies,  although I'm shocked that I've lost 2" off my scope but for a 22" it looks the same size as a smaller scope 😉

I was glad we were in a static and felt terribly for the guys in tents on the site.

Me and Ian were fine in the vango omega 350 tents. Brilliant tent for rain and windy conditions although not good for the back as they are low so no good to wookie (paul)

Mine was second had when I bought it and had it 9 years. It only leaked once last year and seam sealer sorted that.

    Highly recommend it

  4. 4 hour journey home was uneventful and easy. Unpacked half the car and relaxing now.

Many thanks to all those that attended and to Derek, Lesley and Ralph for the great site and organisation we all get to appreciate.

Mike's humour and warm welcome was sadly missed. I did think Derek's kettle was broken 😜

It has been a very enjoyable camp again and the laughs have been a welcome distraction to the normal hum drum.  Looking forward to the next.

Really strong wind up here today so guess it will be more so up there. Tried walking Ingleborough on Friday. The wind and rain closed in on us at the last Mile so we abandoned it.

Take care and see everyone soon

Yes, we have met a few times with PADAS Astro and elsewhere at different astro events.

You say you are staying at the Galloway Astronomy Center, apologies if I have it wrong, but I thought it burnt down some months ago. Can’t remember if it was on this thread or another.

It was the Scottish dark sky observatory Ian. See here

There is no where in easy or short distance to walk from. Probably about a mile  to the nearest safe parking. So I suggest either come in daylight or give us a call when about 2\300 yards away onside lights. We can easily sort out the rest. As long as we know there should be no problems.

We look forwards to meeting you 😀

Think you missed that Ricky did say he was going to come down in the daytime Derek.

Looking like I may just pop down in the day time with no gear to say hello.

Best to check some of us will be around, and probably afternoon best after all the clear skies which are booked in 😁
