  1. Up at 8am to rather stormy skies. Lots of broken cloud last night but the wind picked up to probably double that forecast (30mph gusts) I managed to set the scope up and have a quick view of Saturn on the horizon but noticed my dew heaters weren't working. By the time I'd been to Mike's and affected a repair the wind had become stronger and lots of cloud had moved in. Wind still gusty this morning but set to drop later. Cold weather moving in for tonight so all should be good. On with breakfast!
  2. Just a couple of shots from earlier this evening Milky way in it's full glory straight off the camera with no processing
  3. Maybe slipping on Jameson's Hopefully you'll get it sorted but would happen this week buddy
  4. Bit of a breeze but looking like a few galaxies may get added to the tally.
  5. At least it's an improvement. Still lashing it down here.
  6. Boat is all about packed ready for casting off, how much rain!!!!
  7. I suspect that was the 90% bit, the other astro related gubbins was the crystal glass
  8. Tbh Derren if it's as reliable as clear outside you're not missing anything
  9. I've decided to head up Saturday morning as I've not got everything sorted and friday night is looking poor. We've only had one event cancelled and the weather had been awful on the run up. Julian will probably pop on with a full appraisal of the site conditions but they're probably o.k.
  10. Nice one Neil and great to be out again. Galloway for possibly 10 nights and fingers crossed lots of memorable star hopping sessions. Looking forward to some very nice views and lots of galaxies
  11. Good to get out Paul. Looks like some clear skies are moving in.
  12. Tripped over mine at the foot of the stairs so definitely know where it is!!!
  13. Excellent adhesive. I've used it quite a few times
  14. Damian 07968............. looking to get up the weekend before weather permitting. Lovely and clear down here over night shame the moon was blazing away.
  15. Nice report fella and the pleasures of viewing the skies through big glass never diminish. I like the 21E for stuff like the veil with filtered views and you can just fall into the black expanse. When I want to go deeper and pull detail out as others will confirm it's the 13E that spends most of its time in the focuser. A superb eyepiece. Some of the best observers I've met use goto so you're not on your own. It is more efficient than star hopping for adding to the target tally and without it some would leave the hobby which is a shame. I personally like a good star chart and the thrill of the hunt. It will be Scotland for me in just over a weeks time so I hope to share the views and thanks for the heads up that the midges have bunked up for the winter. Nothing worse than finishing a session looking like you've got measles!
  16. Less than two weeks till I set off. Really looking forward to it and catching up with everyone. If the weather looks good I will be up there from probably the 25th as the moon is well into the early hours before it rises. Just need a few more bits then I'm set. Will have a chat with Mike before this weeks out.
  17. My skills in the kitchen are limited (I'm sure Ian will comment!!!) Will have to call mother and bring up some of her Parkin I thought you'd got the motorised mini pie shooter working Derren? Don't try to tell us all you're going to try doing astro photography with it?
  18. Nice read Nick. Like the piccy you passed onto Estwing hope that can hasn't run out yet
  19. Be good to see you again at the event Derren
  20. I'm heading up early if possible and also looking forward to it. Let's hope as Ian says all this wind and rain is getting out of the way and clear settled weather moves in for the anniversary bash
  21. What's all this talk of being addicted? A pie a day isn't addiction!!!
  22. Have you posted on the thread just to introduce yourself. In the star party section
